No sew curtains

Has anyone done this? Do they hold up well? Or should I find someone to pay to sew curtains for me?

I have the fabric at home and was initially going to pay someone to sew curtains for me, then I heard about no sew curatins. I bought my heat n bond tape, have all my measurements, but I am nervous its not going to turn out right...or I will mess it up.

Also, does anyone know if I can take my fabric and go into say Joann Fabrics and they will guide me with what to do on one of their sewing machines? Does something like this even exist?

Re: No sew curtains

  • I bought some reeeaaalllly cheap but cute sheets from marshalls. I bought 2 sets so I would have 2 full size flat sheets. I cut little slits in the top seam of the curtains and slid the curtain rod through. Here are mine.

If you don't want to cut them, you can always use the clips and hang them like that.

  • I think no sew curtains hold up pretty well.

I plan on making these in a few weeks:

  • I did some no sew in college since we found a steal on some fabric that went perfectly with our living room.  We just used the heat and seal stuff, and they held up really well!  For the tops, I folded it down and sewed on large decorative buttons every few inches (so, really, no longer "no sew", but I can do that part w/o a sewing machine!).

ETA:  If they do end up unpeeling for some reason - it would be easy to have someone just run them under the sewing machine, since you already have all of your folds.  So, you really have nothing to lose.

  • we use no-sew in the photobooth for the curtains, and it holds up really well to wear and tear (and those curtains are definitely seeing some action).  most of the fabrics are heavier upholstery fabrics, so it even works on that!
