Re: Open Letter Wednesday

  • Dear Bank of America,

You suck. It may take us a long time until we can finally break free from you, but when we do, we will never be customers again.

    Signed,
    The homeowners you illegally screwed.

    Dear DH,

I'm sorry that Tynan is sick and that none of us are getting much sleep. But you've got to start handling it better, because your short temper is driving me nuts.

    Love,
    Your wife

    Dear workweek,

    Pass faster.

    Love,
    Tired.

  • Dear Tynan,

    Feel better soon!

    Kisses, Jill and April.

    Dear April's teeth,

So...you're just going to make her miserable off-and-on for, like, months without actually coming out? Sweet.

    Dear dog,

I don't know what I'm going to do if you pee on the playmat again...but you're not going to like it.  :) Thank goodness it's washable!

  • Dear DH,

Thank you for taking care of filling some of those ruts in the front lawn. I think your idea of using some of our existing grass was brilliant. Like you said, that is from an area we wanted to clear anyway.

I just hope that your hard work pays off and it doesn't get washed down the hill this weekend. I hear that Irene is expected to be quite the b!tch... despite you pooh-poohing me about being overly cautious, I think you're wrong about the potential severity of the storm. The meteorologists keep updating the storm projections every couple hours, so I *think* you're the one who's not acknowledging that this has the potential to be a big one like Gloria and Bob. I hope you end up being right and that you can tell me "I told you so." I promise that I won't take it badly if I'm wrong... unless you start gloating!

    I love you.

    Love, YW

    Dear Shannon,

I'm glad that the infected bite on your arm is looking better. The pink ring around the sore is nearly gone. The middle area is definitely starting to heal. Should only have to put the ointment on for another few days, too. Once it looks like pink new skin instead of raw meat, then we can stop.

Only 7 1/2 more days of antibiotics! Thank goodness that you're now taking it without a fight. So what if I have to bribe you with marshmallows to get you to willingly take it. You're not fighting me anymore, and not gagging. Don't worry though, I've got PLENTY of marshmallows in various sizes for you!

I really hope it doesn't scar, as the pedi said it might, but if it does, oh well! It will just be your first of many... sorry you inherited the clumsy genes from both Dad and I!

    Love, Mom

    Dear Kyle,

I love how you learned a new word today, you little scamp. But, how could I resist giving you a couple small marshmallows too when you looked at me with those big blue eyes and while pointing to your sister eating one, said, "Mellow!"

You may not have a huge vocabulary, but you seem to be picking up on all the good multi-syllable ones rather quick! Keep it up, smarty pants! :)

    Love, Mom

    Dear Pediatrician,

You are awesome. I'm glad that you are so proactive in my kids' health. And, even though the allergist pretty much dismissed all allergies for Kyle, I'm relieved that you're not taking that lightly. DH will be picking up our epi-junior for Kyle, just in case. If we have another full-face swelling episode, we'll know what to do!

And, I love how you just laughed and gave me kudos for getting Shannon to take her medicine by bribing her with marshmallows. I know that Mary Poppins said "a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down" but a marshmallow is even better in this case!

See you again in three months (if not sooner). And, don't worry, I'll bring you presents again... as always ;)

    Shannon & Kyle's Mom

    Dear Nesties,

Yes, both of my kids had marshmallows this morning with their breakfast. Oh well. At least the real breakfasts were healthy, right? ;)

    Dear Marshmallows,

You're perfect just the way you are. Thanks!

  • Dear Alicia,

I think your use of marshmallows for bribery is brilliant!  Hope Shannon's better very soon.

    Kristen

  • Dear Jill and April,

Thanks for the well-wishes. Hope April's teeth cut through soon!

    Amy & Tynan

    Dear Alicia,

There is nothing wrong with a few marshmellows with breakfast :) At least they didn't have whole bowls of Lucky Charms!

  • Dear Jill,

I hope that April's teeth cut through soon so she can get some relief. Teething sucks!

    Alicia

    Dear Kristen,

Other than this awful looking rash/sore/bite/whatever, she is perfectly fine! Thank goodness.

    Alicia

    Dear Amy,

I hope that Tynan starts to feel better soon, and that you all get a good night's sleep tonight!

It's not my kids who I have to worry about with the Lucky Charms (although Shannon does like "Cheerios with Marshmallows" occasionally). That cereal is in my house because it's one of my husband's guilty pleasures. Although, even for him, it's not an every morning go-to breakfast.

I don't care for that cereal, personally. I just can't stand the putrid-looking milk that you get after all the marshmallows have reconstituted and "bled" into the bowl. Ew. Absolutely disgusting! I swear that my DH lets it linger just a tad longer than necessary just because he knows it bugs me!
