Help with the potty.

We are right in the heart of potty training and so far so good.  How ever I am not sure what to do when we are in public.  Last night DH has a baseball game so he wore a pull-up and had one accident and he tried to tell me but he was playing and waited till the last minute.  DH is going to work on him going outside, but do you take a small potty chair with you that fits on the toilets?  Ugh I don?t even know-ANY advice would be great.  I feel way out of my element on this one.  Other things I had done before, but never have I worked on potty training.

Re: Help with the potty.

  • We keep a potty seat in the car so if you are out and about it is easy to get to. Otherwise if we are somewhere that has a restroom I just hold them up because we don't have a traveling seat topper.

  • DH taught DS how to hold himself up on toilet seats with his hands, and how to prop himself up with his legs.  So that's how DS uses adult toilets now.  Unless it's really gross, then DH has him stand on his leg and use the urinal.  But mostly he goes with me in the women's room and it's clean enough, and can reach the handicap sink.  DS hates the little potties, so I think he'd throw a fit if we tried to make him use one.

  • We have a little portable one that comes with us in the car, it uses plastic bags. When I take my stroller places, it comes with us too - so I can just pull it out whenever to be used.  I would much prefer G to use it rather than a public restroom, but I am a total freak about them. I cannot in my entire life remember a time when i have come into contact w/ a public restroom toilet, if that gives you any idea of my neurosis.  I also bought some dora liners that come w/ us if we can't use our own portable toilet.  they stick to the seat so i know they won't slip off. then i just hold G up so she doesn't have to touch anything.  the trick for me is to keep ingrid away from the other disgusting things in there!
