I know I shouldn't be surprised

And I don't know if I should laugh and kick his butt, but DH asked, "Did you listen to our show today?" Evidently, they started talking about kids. LZ has 5, AW has 2, and we have none. So they asked him why not. His response, "well, there are lots of ovulation tests at our house and I think I'm scheduled to have sex with her this weekend." I asked him if he told them what he had to do Monday (SA), he said, "Heck no"

Awesome huh?!?! I'm kinda glad I didn't hear that in person.

Edited: in case you didn't know, this is a conversation that happened ON THE RADIO for everyone to hear...well, those listening anyway.

  • you know what though?  good for him.  i think men aren't nearly as in-the-know about how common it is for people to have difficulty trying to conceive!  they certainly don't talk about it like women do.
  • I am kind of proud of him for saying ovulation since he nearly died when he heard us saying it.

Ditto!! And not only saying it out loud for other people to hear, but on the radio!

  • I wasn't able to listen to him yesterday morning without giggling after reading your post in the SA thread. Tongue Tied

  • I missed that part.  LOL.
  • I'm with you. I could handle it much better if I didn't actually hear it on the radio and he just told me about it later. I wonder how the other 2 guys responded. Did they cut to a commercial?

Dx: PCOS and short luteal phase
18 cycles (3 with our RE) - Metformin + Clomid + HCG booster did the trick!

  • Nice.  I'm pretty sure DH listens to his show.  I'll have to ask if he heard that.

  • It sounds like your DH is using humor to cope with his feelings.  DH and I did it too.  Popping pills, taking tests, etc. does kinda take the spontaneity out of it, but for some of us it's part of the gig.  Big hugs!  Even if you can't laugh right now you hopefully will some day.

  • i think it's awesome that he acknowledged the struggle rather than making some comment about how you guys like your life or kids are for losers. i know people say things like that to cover the pain but it also removes the reality of TTC struggles from the conversation and is part of what allows ppl to think always bringing it up is ok. Anyway, maybe that was a little too philosophical but I think it's cool that he was pretty up front but still humorous about it.

Now you need to call in tomorrow and tell them about the SA :)
