My car smells like wet dog

...and air freshener and Febreze make it more like wet dog + flowers. Anyone have a good trick to get that smell out or at least under control?

  • Put a plate with white vinegar in the car, roll up all windows and leave it in place for 24 hours. (Do not drive with the white vinegar in the car...remove white vinegar before driving) Once you remove the white vinegar, the smell should be gone.

yes, this ^^  white vinegar is a disinfectant... I use it for all cleaning in my home. You could also sprinkle baking soda on the carpets and let it sit for a while and vacuum it up. Between both the vinegar and baking soda you should get it out.

Oh, what I do sometimes is I get the carpet fresh stuff that smells nice and I sprinkle it lightly on my carpets and leave it in. If you have black carpet like me just be careful and make sure you rub it in.

you could also get some fragrance oil by like bath & body works and drizzle some on the carpet too.. that works very well!!!!!!!!!!!

    GL!

  • Thank you girls! I will try the vinegar and baking soda. Maybe I'll get a box of baking soda and leave it under the seat to prevent the smell from coming back. I tried the "Carpet Fresh" stuff, but it only helped for about a week.
