surgery monday!

i'm really glad to have it scheduled. i think it's going to be pretty simple (my bff didn't even take a tylenol after hers) but i'm looking forward to getting some relief from my symptoms. not just the recent ones but the ones i've had for 19 years with the acid reflux and whatnot that has never responded to treatment. that would be wonderful (the doc said it's possible). i'm also glad to get in because i'm going home to L.A. towards the end of sept. and want to be sufficiently back together by then (i have heard it takes time for your stomach to adjust to not having a gallbladder and i might have some bathroom issues to contend with).

yay!

Me:39 Dx LPD, Fibroid, AMA and all that goes with that. H:37 Dx low motility and low morphology. TTC since 3/12. Clomid 8/12 and 9/12: BFN. 11/12 on a break for Myomectomy sched. 11/26. Resume TTC early 2013.

Re: surgery monday!

  • Oh, I missed something! I didn't know they had decided that was what it was. I was going to ask you today about the results and forgot. Glad they figured it out. Good luck with surgery!

    Ditto

Good luck tomorrow! Eating probably won't be much fun afterwards for a little bit but as long as you eat healthy that won't last long.

  • yes, that's what it is. i had the hida scan last tuesday and my gallbladder is functioning at 1/2 of 1% (33% and above is normal). i have actually talked to two surgeons and a gastroenterologist and they all agree it's gots to go! my mom and uncle had it too so i guess it's just my time (it's hereditary).

as far as eating, i have been sticking to a very lowfat diet and it's really helped the pain. i plan to continue that afterward. actually the doctor said i'll never be able to process fat normally again.

this actually has been a huge eye opener on how much fat i eat, though. since i'm vegetarian i think i give myself a bye and load it on in the form of cheese and dressing and such. that's got to change. i'm too fat.

I can attest to that, you'll have to be very careful with what you eat and with keeping up exercise. My Mom was always underweight and once she had her gallbladder taken out she's had a really hard time staying at a healthy weight.

by processing he meant in regard to eating fat - you won't be able to eat a lot of it without getting sick. probably everyone is different. my mom had it and she's the same size as before. she was a little underweight prior to the surgery just because she was so sick.

Oh I know. I meant that not only does eating too much fat make my Mom sick, but her body no longer has a fast metabolism like she did her entire life up till then. Like you said, everyone's different, I just thought I'd share that in case you end up having that problem also. Smile
