cleaning

So we broke down and hired a cleaning lady.  Although it is just DH and I with no pets, I couldn't keep up (or didn't want to keep up).  We have a 3 level house with 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bath, and a full rec room down stairs.  I always felt like I needed to be cleaning.  For the most part it is always straightened up, but I fell behind on moping, dusting, etc.So, my sister and mom use the same lady so we hired her.  I feel like a slacker wife who can't clean :)

Now we find ourselves cleaning before she comes.  Hopefully now we can keep the house cleaner.   Does anyone else have anyone who comes out?  If so, how often?

Re: cleaning

  • When I lived in NZ I had a girl come once a week, she did the kitchen, bathroom and floors, plus walked my dog for an hour.

Once finances permit, I will get someone in again.  Life is too short to spend it cleaning, so enjoy your new spare time, and your clean and tidy house.  :)

  • I wish I could afford a cleaning lady, but we probably won't be able to do that anytime soon (if ever).  This whole teaching thing isn't exactly very high paying and we have other things that we have to/should be spending out extra money on.  Hopefully now you'll have a bit more time to do other things and won't have to worry about cleaning so much!  Enjoy it!
  • Oh yeah!  I know exactly how you feel. I have a lady come every other week for the heavy cleaning.  She vacuums, cleans the hardwood floors(on her hands and knees!!!), bathrooms, blinds, dusting, and more.  I love it and yes we find ourselves cleaning up before she comes, but I love it love it love it!

  • I am insanely jealous of all of you ladies.  I can't wait to get someone to come--even once a month for like, a hearty scrub, windows and all.

I haven't looked into it, buuuut I may well ask for that as the Christmas gift that keeps on giving...for real.

  • I am excited that we have her.  She isn't too expensive.  It is equal to a tank of gas these days.  i would highly recommend getting someone.

  • I would love to have one - but haven't been able to justify it with being "mostly" a stay at home wife (I babysit 3 days a week).  Though I have to say I have not been able to keep up with as much cleaning as I'm used to since being pregnant.  I am thinking the idea of a once a month, deep cleaning service would be wonderful once the baby comes!!

UGH... This reminds me of how I need to mop the bathroom floors............  Maybe tonight?!?!  Haha ;-)
