But someone up there hates me. Impossible to get an apartment... turns out I'm getting a job in another state anyway!
Then it turns out that I probably don't have the proper license and there is no time to remedy that. My mom literally cried she was so happy that a job had finally worked out for me, I have no idea how to call her and tell her I probably don't have the job after all.
I need an initial license for teaching license reciprocity between states to work, but it turns out I only have a preliminary license which is one step down. To get an initial license I need to take courses, and obviously with the school year starting next week that isn't going to happen.
To get an exemption the superintendant would have to demonstrate that no other properly licensed teacher could be found. I know for a fact that they interviewed another Rhode Island teacher for the position today, they could easily call her and hire her instead. I don't know what they've decided yet but it looks bad for me.
I can't believe I finally got the job I've wanted for years, and now it is slipping through my fingers because I got my certification an hour north. I'm just devastated, more so because I know my mother is going to be miserable about it after she was so excited.
Re: I don't know what I did...
Oh man Snowy I'm so sorry. I'm so over teaching.
Who would have thought there would be an immigration problem from one state to another! I know that is not the issue, but it kinda seems that way.
I really hope you get a teaching job soon!

That sucks!! I hate all those rules about where teaching certificates are valid. I'd have to say that it is the pickiest profession in that regard.
I hope it all works out for you!
Lol, it IS kind of like a very mini version of work visa issues. I think I'm going to give up and be a waitress. My sister did it this summer and made more than I do in a semester at my current job. It's not like I have health insurance anyway!
