I quit my job

My paid job, that is. My highly coveted WAH while SAH job (that paid peanuts while slowly sucking the life out of me). Now I won't have any excuse for not vacuuming!

I still have the 24/7 unpaid job, of course. Smile

  • Enjoy the time! I hear ya on wanting to quit. I've definitely been wanting to quit since sometimes it's just not worth it, but lately I've been making good money. Of course, that means I'm not as much of a SAHM as I want to be :P
  • Congrats!  Surely we can help you come up with excuses for not vacuuming if you need...just fyi.

Absolutely! I'm sure you're a high-end client. I peg you as a Neiman Marcus kind of girl.

I went back-and-forth on this decision a long time. I had been working there 2-1/2 years. If the job requirements hadn't changed over time, I'd probably still be doing it.

The biggest problem was that I was no longer able to work a little bit here and there throughout the day like I had when I first started. I had to be able to dedicate a large chunk of time to work which I was only able to do after DH and DD went to bed, so I'd be up late into the night working.

The last straw was last month when they implemented a punitive pay structure for people who made a certain kind of mistake. I don't normally make those mistakes (I think I may have done it once or twice in 2-1/2 years) but I'm not perfect and it rubbed me the wrong way that I could potentially lose nearly a week's worth of pay for one mistake.

I'll miss having the paycheck but it won't make or break us. DH can always pick up more OT at work if he needs to and he can make in one day of OT what I earned in a month at this job.

  • It certainly sounds like you come out as a winner in this situation!  It does sound like the cons were outweighing the pros.
  • Good for you! Less stress is always a good thing.

  • Yay! Congrats!
  • Congratulations! It sounds like a good decision for you and your fam :)
  • I didn't even know that you worked a separate job, so I was like, OMG how do you quit a three-year-old?  This makes much more sense, so whew!  And it sounds like it will work out well for you all.

If I could have figured it out, there have been days that I would have done it!  LOL

No one knows how to push your buttons better than your own kids. Seriously.

I remember you talking about that at the mall. Luckily, I can get most of mine done during DD's morning nap and then if there are a lot I can slowly do the rest throughout the day. We have penalties and they suck, but since I got a new boss she isn't as dock happy as the other one. A month ago I was ready to quit, but last week alone I made $500 which is more than I've made a month in a long time. So, now I'm greedy again :P That's just more spending money hehe It does stink when it's pocket money though and it causes more grief than it's worth! Enjoy your freedom :)

  • First off congrats!  Just wondering what you were doing though...I'm interested!
