Who here plans them? I've been thinking of suggesting it to Brian. We go out to dinner once a week, but it is more of a routine/don't feel like cooking thing than it is a date if you KWIM. I thought since we will likely go out to a nice dinner for our anniversary next month, maybe we should just keep it going and try to have a date once a month. Hit up a movie, dinner or whatever. What all do you do?
Re: Date Nights
CRAFTY ME
my read shelf:
We try to do them once a month. Usually it is date day for us. We will go see a movie and then go out to lunch afterwards.
My Christmas present to Jeff was a ton of Groupons for 1 date night a month. We missed Feb, March April and May because life got in the way but we are making more of an effort now.
I think it is totally necessary. But I'm with Kasi and feel bad asking people (read my parents) to babysit... I really need to find a sitter out this way.
For date nights we usually do dinner. For some reason my lame hubby doesn't like going to movies. I still have groupons for a Wine and Cheese tasting (which wil be used as soon as B is completely weaned.
hehe) A couples cooking class, a 45 minute flight over Chicago.
We have used them for Chicago Wolves games, a SeaDog boat tour and new restaurants. We also love going to Hawks games for our dates.

we do groupon/coupon dinners - we use the coupon/groupon as an excuse for a date night. usually we just do dinner and a movie or one or the other.
I like Paige's options too! We have also done concerts, and I wanted to go to a museum but we didn't make it (I was too tired).
I think Sam had posted once about putting a bunch of ideas in a bowl and they pick one a week and have to do what it says - mini golf, sushi, movie, etc. I liked this idea :-)
we don't do anything we plan ahead for, but if we're home (not working) we do 100% of everything together. There's very little we do separately and it's usually me visiting my Mom & Gram if he's not in the mood for family.
Recently we've been bowling and out to the movies and we go out to dinner a lot (too much). We try to go for long drives (something we've always loved doing together) also.

We try for a date night at least once each month. It gets really hard with Matt's officiating schedule, but we usually work it out. We usually do a nice dinner and something else - movie, Barnes and Noble, or some other event going on in town.
We also go out to dinner on average once a week or once every other week.

Our day care lady just started doing Parents Night Out, so we are taking advantage of those for a nice dinner or a movie. It is kind of fun to be able to go out and do something we wouldn't normally do with Norah. Our first date post Norah was at the end of July. But we are going to try and do one night a month, we figure it will be much easier now before BWT2.0 makes an appearance.
I have also resorted to using Care.com to find a babysitter. It sucks that you have to pay for the service to talk to any of the care providers, but I do like that if you pay you can see their background checks and verify references. I paid for a one month subscription. I figure if I can get three regular babysitters out of it, it will have been worth my $35. We liked our first babysitter, and Norah seemed to like her too. We are going to try babysitter number two this weekend.
We don't have any sort of regular date nights. But like you, we don't have kids, so sometimes we end up with spontaneous date nights.
Last Friday we finally used our Fandango Groupon for 1/2 price movie tickets. We went to see Crazy, Stupid, Love, had dinner at the New Orleans bar next door to the movie theater, then went for fro-yo. And we actually planned that as a date night, although our dinner plans got messed up a bit since we were supposed to use a living social coupon to a local Mexican place before the movie. And neither of us were hungry so we skipped the early dinner.
We like to try out restaurants around town that we've never been to, so that usually ends up being our date nights. We also have a standing Friday lunch date and we go out for lunch. I enjoy those almost as much as nights out since it's fun to see him in the middle of the day.
We do more of this than anything, except replace "wine" with local beers:)
We don't have children (well, Jer's daughter is 21 and in college), so every night could be a date night for us.
We usually go out on Saturday nights to dinner and/or drinks after.
