I was wondering if anyone has a degree through University of Phoenix or knows someone who has or any other online program. I am trying to get BA in accountancy. The program at my college has very limited online/night classes, it is for more traditional students. I'm 25 and work full-time. While my work is super great about letting me go to class it is getting increasingly harder to juggle both. I can only mentally handle 3 classes or 9 credit hours and that if still pushing my limits. Last semester i had class all five days of the week and that about killed me. I absolutely cannot work part time, I've asked and basically I will be let go from my job if I work less than 37 hours. I love online classes and succeed with them, it also works better with my job. I said I was getting my BA in accountancy, but I'm not set on that I basically want Bachelors degree in something. Preferably something useful in finance or just buisness related. I love math and that is why I chose accountancy, it is a degree that you can do alot with. I really want to do auditing and preferably in the fraud field.
Ok so back to my real question. I read reviews of online schools and people have said that if you get a degree with one if these schools its not real. Employers don't take it as seriously as one you get from a traditional school. So I dont want spend money on something an employer is just gonna laugh about and then throw my resume in the trash. Thanks for reading this and for any advice you have to share with me.

Re: School (long)
I actually attended the University of Phoenix for a little over a year. I was only 2 classes from getting my associates degree in Medical Administration when I learned that the degree did not qualify for certification from the American Health Information Management Association. I was very bummed because I'd came just so close. I transfered to DeVry online and am back on track.
The reason I mentioned my whole story is to point out a couple things. First, if you have to get a certification from somewhere for your potential job position - check to see if the program you attend is a qualifing program! Don't waste your time if it is not recognized.
Secondly, UOP usually has you taking about 2 classes at a time, which equals to a couple hours of work each time. Surprisingly, DeVry requires much less homework, but it's twice as expensive.
But I do want to point out that both of these online schools ARE accredited by the United States Department of Education (otherwise you wouldn't be able to get any financial aid to attend them). So they are real degrees in that sense.
I know one person who attended there years ago and got a degree in the medical field. It was a masters degree. She has had nothing but success and heard nothing bad about where she got it from, but she was already greatly involved in her field for about 15 years and her job paid for UoP and she now works elsewhere.
I also have a friend attending. He is getting a BS degree in computers. He is due to finish this year.
I can't speak to accountancy per se, but I do know that many employers, or graduate schools should you choose to pursue your education further will not look favorably on a degree from Phoenix.
Most traditional schools do have online degrees and you would be much better off pursing a degree from there. You don't have to stick within your state, but even within Illinois, the University of Illinois has an online program which would result in a BA in Business Administration which includes management, accounting, and marketing.
I would suggest checking out U of I @ Springfield... they have a Bachelor's online with a major in Business Administration. You'd likely be able to transfer many classes, as I assume you have been going to WIU in Macomb.

Best of luck!
DH just got his BA from Capella University. The founder left U of Pheonix b/c he didn't think it was a quality product. Many of the professors at the college where I am an adjunct got there MAs & PhDs there.
