Exciting change of events!

So DH is out of town this week (in Canada) and he called me this afternoon to tell me that his work is asking him to go back to Canada for Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.  He was pretty frustrated because we're supposed to leave on vacation as soon as he gets home from work on Wednesday.

Now I'm a slow poke and haven't gotten my passport changed from my maiden name to my new name, so I spent the last hour on the phone with the passport department of the government and the boarder potrol and protection agency to get some answers about traveling with my passport with my maiden name on it.  It turns out that I'm going to be able to use my passport with my maiden name and my marriage license to get in and out of Canada with DH!  (Thanks for everyone who answered this question a few months ago, but this is the official answer from both the passport agency and the boarder potrol and protection agency.)

Now we can leave on Monday night or Tuesday morning to go to Canada so DH can work and then we'll head to my brothers wedding (in Maine) from there!  That means I get an extra day off of work, we get to hit up a few more towns in Canada that we haven't been too and we'll have about 7 less hours to drive on Thursday!  I'm pretty excited about this all right now!

Yeah! It should be a good time!  I didn't think I was going to be able to go into Canada because I hadn't changed my passport.  I need to get it done eventually though Smile

  • That sounds like fun!  Is it too early for any of the tree to have started changing colors?  We went on a cruise up the eastern coast a few years ago in September and it was sooo pretty. I wish we would have had more time in Maine.

I think it will probably be too early to see the colors changing.  We will be back by the 10th of September.  There is a possibility that we might see the start of it though.  That cruise sounds awesome!  Where did it depart from?

It left from NYC and went up through Halifax.  My cousin and I went with my parents and were BY FAR the youngest on the ship.  I'd say the median age was probably 60.  We lovingly referred to it as the sh!t ship because of the smell.  Those senior citizens and their fiber...  Wink

  • glad it worked out for you & enjoy your trip!

(I'm assuming you'll add Change passport to the top of your list when you return home) Wink

Hahaha, absolutely! I already have the photo taken!!!  (It's not a great one, but I would expect nothing less from a passport photo)

lol!  It still sounds like a blast!  We talked about going up to Nova Scotia, but that's still a long drive from Maine.  We'll have to make another trip out there someother time!

We went to PEI, New Brunswick & Nova Scotia on our honeymoon & I'd recommend it to anyone, it's gorgeous countryside!  I want to go back & take the kids there.  PEI is soooo calming!
