Here's what I'm looking for in case anyone is bored. I want a new comforter/sheets set for our master bedroom. With the new furniture, I think the one we have is going to be too dark.
The walls are a mint-ish green (when we moved in, it was supposed to be sage. The paint didn't quite come out the way we wanted it to but we basically got lazy and called it good enough. So mint it is).
Our curtains, which I'm unwilling to part with, are a dark/royal purple. They're blackout curtains that we had to cut & sew to the appropriate length because of the way the windows are on the 3rd floor of the townhouse/condo. So they are staying
Very messy picture of the room when we first moved in.
And another (the bookcase isn't there anymore, the 8 drawer chest/landscape mirror is there.
The furniture that we just got is merlot. (link). The room is huge, so the furniture looks great with the light walls.
With that whole mental picture, for bedding, the restriction is that the bed is California King. With the dark furniture and the dark curtains, I'm thinking that the bedding should be something lighter. I have no opinion/idea at this point on specific color.
Anyone with ideas or feel like doing some online shopping? ![]()
Re: Who's bored and wants to help me shop?
I just bought this set in the red- our walls are blue (light) so I think it will fit well! Here it is in blue/mint

I will keep shopping....
Oh that's so pretty! I
paisley and that color is great! Thanks, I really like this a lot!
what about like on the photo of the furniture mixing light and dark?
we have these two items which i think might go well in your room. this is the color and brand of our sheets, but we have embroidery on the flat sheet and pillow cases.

ah, good idea. Light colored sheets, dark coverlet. I could dig that. Coverlet instead of comforter? I think that might work out ok. Good thought!
Ohh, and I dig the pillows too. Especially the 2nd & 3rd ones.
Thank you! These give me a broader idea then what I was originally thinking!
yay! im normally ppppbbbbbttt at decorating so I wasnt even sure if I should suggest anything haha.
Pier 1 has some really adorbs accent pillows if you decide to go with something like that. you can't buy them online though and the website is being snail-like for me right now.
I'm AWFUL at decorating. In fact, our house is not so much decorated as it is flung together with things we've appropriated on our travels, so I hear you.
I appreciate the suggestions!!
I'm kind of digging this set too. (Which I think would still work with some accent pillows!) I'm torn between looks. I like the paisley print Kel suggested and the dark/light look.
i really like that set and thats a good deal!
what does Jon say about paisley? i know andy thinks its too feminine, unless Jon doesnt care haha.
our house sounds like its the same as yours. i just kind of buy things i like as i see them and just put things we've acquired wherever they fit/work. i dont ever have a "vision". thats how my house was growing up though, it was just full of things we liked and not really themed or matched.
Jon has told me in the past that as long as the bed remains comfortable he couldn't care less what the comforter looks likes. I don't think he'd be happy if I bought a couch in that pattern, but for the bedroom, he's not really interested and doesn't care.
Maybe that's my problem too..our house growing up was the same so I really had no one with a creative/stylish eye to emulate. I kind of like our mishmash of artwork and stuff though

I really think platinum colored bedding would look great in there.
This could work, if you like the style:

Or this one (in Sea Spray)

I love this duvet cover, but obviously picture it without the blue accessories.

OH Rach! That first set is gorgeous. I LOVE the branches. That may be my favorite I've seen so far.
The pin tuck one is very pretty too but I think that first one is amazing. Thank you so much!!

Oh yay!:) I'm glad you like! I think it would look great if you added some white, silver and dark purple pillows to the bed too. It would totally tie in your curtains!
GL! You'll have to post pics for us when it's all done!
