Dance Moms
These hos are crazy.
Melissa is crazy. She is such a stage mom. Her daughter is a beautiful dancer though.
Cathy is INSANE. I really wish the producers would ask Vivi, "What would you rather be doing?" so we know what her real interests are. It's painfully obvious she doesn't like dancing and doesn't want to do it.
I thought Chloe did a good job during the group dance last night from what I could see.
WDYT about the exchange between Holly and Abby? I thought Abby should have communicated to Holly why she was spinning the ethnic dances. I also thought the dance Nia did was lacking- big time. I would not have been pleased with that performance and choreography myself.
But Abby flying off the handle at Holly saying, "Well if you don't like it, go find another dance teacher" was totally unnecessary and rude. She takes a lot of money in tuition, the least she could have done was listen to Holly, calmly tell her what her motives are, and if Holly still didn't like it, have Holly suggest what type of dancing she'd like to see Nia do (and make an effort to put Nia in a couple of those solos for the next 2-3 competitions).
I dunno, that's just my opinion.

I agree with you 100%. But, I was a competition dancer for many years and I do not think that Abby is all that talented. She has wonderful dancers, but I am not into her choreography.
I feel so badly for Vivi. She is not into dancing and said she does it to make her mom happy. I also feel badly for Brooke who is obviously not into it either. I remember being her age and wanting to do those same things (go to the mall, hang out with friends, etc), but couldn't because I had dance class. But, my mom never forced me to go.
Oh, and Cathy actually scares me. And I am scared to Vivi because of her. Vivi clearly would rather do other things and her mom couldn't give two cents about her other interests.
And why is Cathy even there, given that she OWNS her own dance school? BECAUSE SHE IS DESPERATE TO BE ON TV, THAT'S WHY. If I were part of Cathy's school I would be pretty annoyed that Cathy's own school isn't good enough for her own daughter but apparently perfectly fine with taking money from my kid for the substandard instruction.
That is also what I find so STRANGE about Abby- she doesn't dance! I saw her say, "so go like this and this" while barely moving during instruction. My dance teacher could dance just like we could (minus toe touching jumps and splits as she was in her 40s...) but she was very active and could show us exactly what she wanted us to do.
I just find it so weird that Abby just does not dance- or move much, for that matter.
I am no beauty queen, so I can't talk too much, but really? You find it weird that Abby does not move much?
This show is like crack to me. I can't stand "Toddlers and Tiaras" but this one I will sit down for, for some reason lol
Oh, and Cathy is certifiable. That is all.
No, I mean, since she's a dance teacher and all. I dunno, it seems that for being such an expert she'd...ya know, be able to dance...

That came off snarkier than I meant lol I agree with you; the first time I watched it, I was like, "How do they learn the dances??"
I suspect she's got other choreographers teaching them the actual dances. I mean, by the time she's instructing them it looks like they have the basic moves down. But, yeah, still.
This show has to be really dramatized for TV because there is no way these mothers are paying all of this money to have their kids (and themselves) treated like crap.
Vivi is a cute girl but is not a talented dancer and not model material. Sorry, Cathy. It doesn't bother me to say that because Vivi has no interest in doing those things so she doesn't need any (more) encouragement to do so. Let the girl play soccer like she's said she would rather be doing.
Re choreography and Abby moving: In several scenes, you can see a younger (thinner) woman in the room showing moves to the girls. I didn't notice it as much in previous episodes, but saw it a lot in the most recent episode.
I remember this from a few episodes ago,
I wish the judges of the photo contest would have told Cathy what was wrong with Vivi's photos. Poor girl, being stuck a mama like her.

As an African American and former dancer and instructor I was really conflicted about this show. I honestly agree with Abby concerning hip-hop, African and caribbean being more suited for Nia. Her body structure lends itself to more fluid forms of dance. There's nothing wrong with it, everyone is not a ballerina.
Also, Holly really irritated me with all of her attempts to show that she wasn't as ethnic as Abby is trying to make Nia appear. I don't care how she dresses, how much money she pays in private school tuition or who she knows, she's still African American...own it!
On the other had, Abby irritated me by saying that Nia was "privileged" to have been the only AA girl in the competition group, meaning that Holly should simply be glad that Nia is even there...
Like I said...conflicted all around...
