Did we talk about this lady here? She "disciplined" her adopted son by making him drink hot sauce and take cold showers; then she went on Dr Phil to talk about it. Besides what she actually did to him, I remember thinking that the sound of her voice in the videos showed she was obviously not in control of herself.

Sentencing is on Monday.

I'm not sure which is worse: if she abused the kid because she didn't know how.to handle him or if she abused him because she wanted to be on TV.

I know kids can be hard to handle, but man. That's just ridiculous. I remember hearing about that story...I hope she learns from this.

Yikes! I remember watching that episode on Dr. Phil. It's weird that I never watch the show, but I was at the doctors office and it was on. I had tears in my eyes while I was watching the video. I couldn't believe that a mother could do such a thing! I was hurting for the little boy.

I saw her on one of his follow up episodes -- they say neither she nor her husband, a city police officer, show emotion at the sentencing.

I remember in the video she made him hold in his mouth - he just couldn't swallow it - her 10 year old daughter recorded it - I wonder if she was also adopted ... ?

She definitely lost control in the video and was beyond her breaking point, but I'm worried about the precedent it sets.

I saw that episode on Dr. Phil. I was so sad watching that.

I'm not saying the mother is a horrible, terrible person, but she really shouldn't be taking care of children. I understand people have rough days, but this woman needs some serious, serious help.

Marcy, keep in mind there's already a pre precedent protecting kids from abuse. I don't think this case really created anything new, except the media attention because the twit broadcast it on national television.
