Anniversary Gifts..

So I started my Anniversary gift shopping today.. along with some Christmas gifts (yikes).. so I was wondering what you ladies are giving or asking for?

I'm following the First Anniversary Gift suggestions and giving Jim a watch (clock) for the modern gift.. and a gift certificate for a massage (paper) for the traditional gift. He's not a watch person but I figured he could use it when we dress up for like weddings and such.

I kind of want to ask for a watch as well.. but don't want to give his gift away either. Hmm.. we'll see.

Re: Anniversary Gifts..

  • No gifts. I bought a card today, he'll give me a card. We're doing a 10 day Disney trip, that's enough.

  • I have no idea what to get DH. Every time I have to get him something I just get some nerdy Star Wars thing, but I kind of want to get him something sentimental or more important than misc Star Wars crap, KWIM? He got a nice watch on the HM, and he got me one for xmas last year.

same, except replace disney with key west.  we will go out to dinner on our anniversary though.

  • Money is tight, so I'm being bad and combining anni with J's b-day which is 2 weeks after anni.  Might be tacky, but this way I can get him 1 really nice gift instead of 2 small ones.

He's wanted a camcorder for a while.  So I found one.  Not very romantic.  Well, actually, the way some people use them, might be romantic, but that won't be our case. Big Smile

I think he wants it mostly for hunting and outdoors stuff so i got one that was made for that.  But it'll also be nice to have once the baby comes.

I told him to get me baby stuff. :-)  And take me out to a nice steak dinner.  He says he already has it planned so we'll see what that entails.

  • No gifts.  We're going on a big trip to Africa.  K wants to bungee jump on our actual anniversary.  I'll probably chicken out.

Someone posted a link on here a while back to a neat little anniversary book that you fill out every year from 1-50.  I've been thinking about getting one to capture all the sentimental stuff.

  • Our anniv gift is our trip to Oahu.  I'll probably get him a card too.

BTW...my MOH gave us an anniv gift, a bottle of Cristal.  I was very impressed.  It helps that she works at Roederer and got to use her discount.

  • We aren't doing dinner out on our anniversary, we're doing dinner in since we will be eating out for the 10 days preceding it. Steaks, crab legs, baked potatoes, etc.

  • H and I have our vacation to Puerto Rico and will probably buy each other gifts while we're there.

  • After some browsing and brainstorming, I think I am going to make a love book from www.lovebookonline.com. It will be a nice keepsake, and hopefully DH will enjoy it. He's pretty sentimental sometimes, so I think he will.

  • Since DH and I will both be working an event on our anniversary (i'm an event planner, he's a bartender) we've decided to celebrate a day later and will be going out to dinner.

In terms of gifts DH bought me earrings that I know about, a card, and something which is a surprise, and I am totally clueless on what the heck it is.

I bought DH a new something-or-other for his computer, a card, and I decided to go with the traditional "paper" gift. I bought a USA map and map stickers so we can mark everywhere we'd like to travel together, and everywhere we have traveled together. I thought it was cute.

I'd like to get that book marking memories from 1st anniversary - 50th but it was a little expensive in my opinion. It's from www.uncommongoods.com though in case anyone was wondering.

  • I got my husband a Mistura watch a few years ago...he gets compliments on his watch all the time.  I found it at a Sheky's girls night out event.  The website has them for more money than I paid and his style is not on there. But still really cool!

Not sure what I will be giving him yet for our anniversary.  I can't believe it's coming so soon!  Also, can't believe that I did not know that there was an anniversary board on here!

Anyone else married on Sept. 11th?

  • No gifts either, taking a trip to San Diego.  Although DH has been talking about getting a "cheapie" ring to wear at work, so I might surprise him w/ a sterling silver ring while we're in Cali.
  • I don't think we're doing gifts. We'll probably go out to dinner and eat the top tier of our cake. I've been looking forward to the cake since we got back from the honeymoon. The only piece I had was from when we cut the cake. And it was more of a bite than a piece.

  • QoA - I had one bite when we cut the cake, that was it.

Siobhan - that map thing is a really cute idea!

  • I haven't heard a clock/watch for the modern gift. J does like clocks and since he got his citizen eco drive as a wedding present then I could do a clock for him. I love the idea of the map (good idea Siobhan!) so might do that as the traditional. I found this one super cute idea about taking a picture every where with a picture of yourself from the previous anniversary (hard to explain but will look for a pic). I figure we could hold a picture of us from the wedding and take a picture on for the 1st Anni and add to it.

J really wants to go back to Asheville and stay in the cabins but just not sure if the funds will allow it. We shall see...

  • We are taking a trip to Chicago (same place we went on our honeymoon), getting massages and going to a very nice dinner.

We got a change jar at Christmas that had $100 in it (from Grandma) and we have put almost another in it so we are using that as some fun money.

I will probably get DH Bengals tickets since he is a huge fan or Reds tickets if I can find some nice season tickets.

My birthday is 15 days before our anniversary so I think I may get one big present, not sure yet

  • Maybe a dumb question, but I also have our wedding cake.  When should we start defrostin it?  1 day before?
