Ok so what's the rule for including or not including all work experience on an application?
I'm applying for an opening at the embassy (major vibes needed please!! it's my 3rd time already!) and considering they're a bit intense, I don't want to screw anything up. Since I'm currently working, my last job would be contacted for a reference. But my last job was a complete disaster. I was at a children's school for 6 months and did my best to leave on good terms but things got twisted around in the end and though I'm not sure, I think they're giving me a bad name. (There weren't any fights or arguments or anything like that. I had told my boss I had to go home for a while over an urgent family situation and wasn't sure I'd be able to return to work at the school. My boss said to keep her updated on the everything and that she would contact me. She never did and when I went to see her , she pretended to be unavailable and said I had simply disappeared on the job and all this other crazy stuff.)
Anyway, there was an English dept coordinator that supposedly was my direct boss and I could put her down for a contact for that job. I didn't have any problems with her.... but I'm still worried she could say something to go against me. Generally I think it's best to be honest about everything with job apps and interviews but then sometimes I think it doesn't always work in my favor like I thought it would. So what am I supposed to do? Include the school in my work experience? Or skip it and let them contact my 2nd previous job with no problems at all? Help! TIA!
Re: Job application question- help!
Well I wouldn't leave it blank, I would just fill that space by listing the next job before that one.
Also, good point. Hadn't thought of that. I have applied before but it turns out, I just found recently, I had been applying wrong this whole time. I had left my resume, and last time this school was under work experience as my current job. However, the website boldly states you must reapply each time because they don't keep anything on file. Either way, not sure if that would still be risky..
