I had an OB appointment today, and I'm measuring 3 weeks ahead. All my other appointments I've been on track. I didn't have a huge weight gain, 2 pounds in 2 weeks.
Maybe the measurement was off, maybe she's going to be a big baby, had a growth spurt, etc. (these are all my guesses).
But overall, does measuring ahead mean much? I know at this point it doesn't mean I'm always going to be 3 weeks ahead, but just wondering.
P.S.- I'm getting another ultrasound done in 2 weeks to check on her, her size, etc. (this will be our 6th ultrasound, we've had so many for multiple reasons, but not high-risk reasons).
P.S.S.- I failed my 1 hour GD test, but passed my 3 hour! Wohoo!
Re: BR: Measuring ahead...mean anything?
A lot of girls would tell me that their OB's say the baby is huge but ended up having regular 6-7 pounders. Wasn't my case, everyone is different, gotta keep looking at it that way.
Honestly, I think it's just the way you carry, and I almost don't even understand why they take the measurements.
I was the opposite, I measured small--it was a concern from 30 or 32 weeks through the remainder of my pregnancy. I had to have a growth ultrasound, and was scheduled for another one the week she was due--but she came early, so I didn't have to have it. By the time she was born, I was measuring 4 cm (so, 4 weeks) behind, and my doctor was freaking us out.
Nora popped out at 6 lbs., 10 oz., a perfectly healthy and normal (albeit a little smaller than average weight).

All it means is that the tech on that day sees you possibly have a big baby. Molly measured ahead, but they said her early arrival was because of fluid (polyhydramnios), not size.
And just between you, me and the internet, I'm glad she came at 37 weeks. She already weighed 7 lbs 3 oz and was perfectly healthy. One more degree of tear and I'd never sit again.

Are you measuring ahead based on an ultrasound with measurements of the baby or just based on fundal height?
There are so many factors - baby could be big, you could have extra fluid, baby may be in a different position than normal, different person doing the measuring.
I wouldn't start to worry.
I don't think it really means much. You could go in for another u/s next week and be more on track to what you actually are.
The most accurate u/s for due dates are the early ones (like 6 weeks).
