Re: Hurricane weekend plans!
Tonight: Matt has another back-to-school happy hour. I'm going to stay home to bake and make candy.
Tomorrow: Maybe meet friends for breakfast. Rain and wind are supposed to start mid-day, so after that, we'll be staying in for the rest of the weekend! I imagine we'll go for a walk on Sunday after the storm is over. Given how many impromptu plans we've had this summer, our bank account is going to be happy to get a break from withdrawals. ;-)
Tomorrow we're going to a family birthday pool party for DH's 7 year old goddaughter. After that, DH is going to bring in our four window unit air conditioners, the swings from Helen's swingset, the flower boxes from the porch, and everything else that would be at risk for blowing away on Sunday.
Sunday I guess we'll hang around the house and see what happens.
Today - Running errands with the baby. MH has been gone all week for work so I know he just wants to relax and spend time with the baby. Then when she goes to bed we'll finally watch last weeks True Blood!
Saturday - I'll probably make more baby food. We have done avacado, banana and sweet potato. Not sure what I want to make next. Although she doesn't really seem to care for any of them so far
Sunday - home to see how the weather plays out
Tonight: My Pampered Chef GTG. I'm spending most of today cleaning and prepping for that. I am going to try a new (for me) recipe for stuffed eggs from Alice Waters, which is essentially a Deviled Egg but with herbs...
Tomorrow: Zip out to pick up a pair of scrub pants I ordered from the store in Topsham. Then over to Brunswick's Border's so that Wayne can spend 2 hours looking at their selection of maybe 50 books. I'll use that to bribe him into a lunch at the Lion's Pride pub, I think!
Tomorrow night: will try to convince Wayne and our friend to have pizza up in Winthrop in an attempt to surprise a friend of ours who lives up there behind the House of Pizza.
Sunday: pray to whatever gods may be that we don't lose power because I can't figure out why our generator isn't starting. Then hang out and read, most likely.
No big plans here. DH is working this weekend. Probably a lot of cooking and movie watching on Sunday. Hoping to not lose power!
At some point I plan to head to Kohl's to use a coupon and get the rest of Eli's fall/winter clothes. Maybe we'll go out for lunch too.
I need to pick up a few more things outside (tried to do this with DH yesterday and he said I was overreacting- really, we don't think that the plastic climber and empty water table might blow away?)
Hoping to get in a run at some point too. Another 10K coming up in a few weeks and I haven't run over 3 miles in a month. Oops!
Hi ladies, I haven't been around as I've had a lot going on.
Tomorrow: Bringing the boys for haircuts, then we have a sitter so that what was supposed to be our date day is now, stacking 3 cords of wood, and cleaning up the boys outside toys so they don't get blown away. At some point I also need to pick up a prescription for Christian's surgery Monday.
Sunday, DH has to work that night so it will be me and the boys playing inside all day, and hoping we don't lose power.
Have a great weekend ladies! Stay dry.
Our 2nd floor is almost finished (as of yesterday we are now a 2 bathroom house, I can't contain my excitement over this!) and I will be so glad to relax on nights & weekends again.... for a few weeks at least.
Today: I'm heading down to the outlets to try and find some clothes and a few things we need for the house. I'm feeling more and more whale-like lately so I'm hoping I can find something that fits enough to make me feel slightly normal for these last few months. Other fun things on the list: laundry, dishes, ripping out carpet staples on the stairs, screwing in outlet covers, paying some attention to my garden.
Saturday: My parents have been helping DH do all of the painting for our entire 2nd floor, this weekend it's touching up trim on the stairs and finishing doors (we have 12!). I'll be finishing any outside stuff and feeding them.
Sunday: Maybe relaxing inside after we clear everything out of the upstairs. Carpet comes on Monday. We're almost done!!!!
This weekend annoys me LOL 4 special days in August for us and everyone of them has been rained out, here we go again...
Today is my 4th anniversary. Tonight, we're staying home and going for a walk or something as a family to enjoy the last nice day of the weekend.
Tomorrow - we were supposed to go to Peaks Island, but not sure if that's happening so we may just go out to dinner. Either way, the BIG part of tomorrow is that we are going ot try and attempt Caroline's first sleep over. She doesn't nap at IL's, but we're hoping nighttime will work better. We'll see!
Sunday - Blah
Congrats Maeghan on your anniversary!
Today I'm doing lots of baking! Relaxing tonight.
Tomorrow - our usual house errands, picking up paint so I can finish the nursery, ordering our custom cabinets and a few other things for our kitchen, library to pick up some books so I have something to do in case we loose power.
Sunday - Finishing up painting, seeing what happens with the weather.
My DH is at the other extreme. He's bringing in the window air conditioners and everything not nailed down outdoors and he's even moving the lawn tractor from the garage into the shed to "give the shed some more weight." Now, keep in mind that this isn't a small plastic shed, this is a 10 x 14 stick built shed with vinyl siding and asphalt shinges. Really, DH? You think it's going to blow away?
Thank you!
Yeah, DH is going a little over with the storm b/c of DD. Need gas, need the generator, etc etc. We do have to pick up crap around the house though. We JUST put up staging to paint the trim again before we seed. Ugh, gotta take it down.
Back home, yeah we board up windows etc. but what's really important is the cocktails
Did I miss something?
Weekend Plans:
Today- Working and waiting for my car to be finished. The contractors that painted our building sprayed my car with black over spray. I've had a polka dotted car for almost two months. They paid for the buff job but I'm just waiting to hear it's done.
Saturday- Mom's birthday. She's coming to our house not sure what we will do.
Sunday- preparing for the storm. Hoping not to loose power for too long. We need a generator.
Haha, no. I refer to the room as the nursery because it hasn't had and will not have another purpose besides that. I'm hoping that if we get it finished up it will give the baby gods the ok for a BFP!
I am reeeally hoping it doesn't get too hurricane-y here because I have a huge couch to move on Sunday! My dad and I got most of my furniture (all but the couch, nightstand and jewelry mirror) moved today, and I wrenched my back pretty good lifting the mattress of doom, so tonight I'm taking it easy - some light cleaning and laundry duties, lol.
OH and speaking of laundry, I am reunited with my sweet washing machine and dryer. JOY AND CELEBRATION.
Matt and I will move the last of the little stuff tomorrow - but not the couch because my dad isn't available - and then I think we're getting lobster. My first lobster ever! The little dude is headed to MA w/his mom tonight and tomorrow so I don't know if he'll be back tomorrow night or not.
Sunday I'm hoping for Dad + Matt + couch = move is complete and I can clean the apartment and turn in my keys.
I think the back pain is making me a little loopy. This post looks like something I would write if I'd been drinking.
Tonight I'm working until 11 but looking forward to getting out so I can go home and read more Game of Thrones.
Tomorrow I have a wedding to go to, but it's a very early in the day wedding so I should be home by dinner time. No real plans for Saturday night or Sunday, sort of looking forward to laying low and seeing what this storm is going to do. Hopefully it will give me a chance to get some reading and/or cleaning done.
We hit the zoo today before the rain hit to try and get SOME outside time during our last summer weekend. (Can that really be true???) Now everyone is sleeping, and I'm plotting a trip to the grocery store in the hopes that the shelves haven't been cleared. The rainy day is giving me the cooking bug. Tonight after the kiddos sleep, MH and I are planning on playing cribbage and drinking Manhattans.
Tomorrow: give Owen a haircut (never fun), and baking/painting some cookies with him. Maybe building a fort or something -- anything to stave off cabin fever. Praying that the half-dead tree in my neighbors yard doesn't come crashing down on my house.
Thanks all for the preparedness stories -- I had forgotten that Owen's toys were still in the yard. Time to bring them in!
Having a hurricane weekend just makes me feel better about my normal stay inside, hang low type of days!
Last night I had rehearsal for my duet piece that I'm running for our belly dance show last month. We rehearsed twice last week for over an a hour and a half each and will likely do the same this week and maybe the one after. Add to that the Wednesday night regular rehearsal and an info meeting for the duet on Monday, and I was pooped last night! We had yummy homemade pizza and we got sucked into a stupid Dateline show until 11.
This morning James and I got out early to the grocery store, which was really mellow, and then off to the farmer's market. I feel like the market is suppoesd to be cheaper, but the final bill begs to differ. During James' 4 hour marathon nap
I vegged, did dishes, helped bring the canoe in, and started pretzel dough which is now rising. I'm trying to convince DH that we should go for a family walk with J's trike, which might actually be trapped per hurricane prep. Tonight is enchilada night!
Tomorrow is a mellow day that is supposed to be rainy. I'm hoping to get some practice in and maybe some costume work. Then it's a power-proof dinner of fondue. Depending on power, there might be more laundry and chores to be done. Entertaining the boy will also be a priority!
I wasn't supposed to be home today!! I headed up to Baxter State Park with my aunt and Taylor yesterday around 8 am. We got to the front gate and Noon and were told that they might evacuate the park. Sure enough, this morning, the ranger told us everyone had to be out asap on Sunday. Instead of packing up, driving, and unpacking, all in the rain, we decided to leave today. I would have come home tomorrow anyway, but my aunt was staying until Wednesday. We got two great hikes in and Taylor was awesome!
Tomorrow I think we are doing like the rest of you seem to be, laying low and seeing whats going on. Be safe everyone!
