So, it's been a week now. And Jack has done awesome! We make a big deal about his "big boy bed" so he actually gets excited to go to bed. When we tell him it is time for bed, he willingly goes to his room, helps me put up the gate "Gate Mama, Gate!" and then crawls in bed, gives me a hug and kiss and "Love you mama" and lays down. Either me or my H do stay in there with him until he falls asleep, but it usually only takes about 5-10 mins.
We got a nightlight, which I think is really good b/c when he wakes up and crawls out of bed, he can see what he is doing. And we still have the couch cushions by the opening to the bed, but he hasn't fallen out once!
The only negative is that if he wakes in the middle of the night, he usually won't go back to sleep. He will walk to the gate and yell Mama, and then grab his pillow and wants to lay in bed with me. Most nights he stays in his bed all night though, and the nights he has woken up, it's been around 430-5am so he stays down for pretty much the whole night.
I can't believe how well he has done, thank you very much to all the ladies that responded to my original post, sharing their experiences and tips!
Once we finish this transition fully, we will move on to potty training. Which I think is going to be tough with him, b/c he hasn't really shown ANY interest yet. Ah well, not everything can be easy!!
Re: F/U - moving from crib to toddler bed
Great to hear. I was wondering how it was going when I saw the pic of him in it.
Good luck with the potty training. We thought we were on a roll, but she decided she's done for now.
Deal. Can you just imagine the two of them, showing the other one how to do something like that? I think I would die from the cuteness.
