What's good in your hood today? Anything you're looking forward to this weekend?

Re: Happy Stuff
We are supposed to get lotsa rain and wind from good old Irene - but I am actually sort of excited about that. It forces me to stay inside and get some things done that I have been putting off b/c it's been too nice to stay indoors. Also, the crappy weather gives me an excuse to catch up on my reading (aka the book club book).
Yay for hurricanes!!
(um, ok, maybe not, haha)
MrsG, I'm super happy about your plans as well
I got a nice 11% bump in pay due to target changes in my position which is awesome. DH should get his pay increase for his position in a month or two which means even more monaaay. Woot. Also my book club is also doing a mexican potluck this weekend and inviting the guys and I love me some mexican. I just need my oven back in my kitchen so that I can prepare for this.
DH was supposed to get home at midnight, but he had a connecting flight in Charlotte. The company he was working for sent everyone home early- and he's in Philly right now getting on a plane to come home! I'm so excited he's early and not stranded!
He also just got a call that he might have to work every bengals home game. Yes, they suck, but it would still be a really cool job!

That's awesome! Yay healthy baby!

Yay for good news!
P.S. I mailed the fabric out yesterday.
I'm happy to have the day off today after sitting in meetings and working in my classroom all week. It's pretty nice out today too, so I'm hoping to spend some time outside since I haven't really been able to do much of that in the last week.
I'm also happy that although I just went to the grocery store, there weren't too many "stocking up for the apocalypse" crazies. lol I was able to get what I needed and get out pretty quickly, so it was much better than I was anticipating.
It's my last day at work!!
To make it even better I had a surprise party and then we went to an Street food fair and I has some of the best food ever- Arepa's; A Chocalate sea salt popsicle and homemade blueberry ice cream. It's was so goooood.
I'm looking forward to a 6- day weekend. I don't start my new job until Thursday.
I am so HAPPY to have such a wonderful group of like-minded mama friends in Des Moines. Neena and I have made so many friends, I especially love our Friday playgroup. :-)
And, we are heading back to my parent's this weekend. We haven't been there in 4 months! SUPER EXCITED!

That's great news!
You and MrsG are killing me with food. That sounds so good! Enjoy your mini-break before your new job!
Staying after work in NYC to have dinner with DH, my bro and my SIL. Then, afterwards, they are evacuating b/c they live in one of the mandatory evac zones in NYC! They live down in the seaport on the 27th floor (with floor to ceiling windows)!
Fantastic news, Jo! So happy that Baby Girl K is doing good:)
