Irene's 1st Victim....
....is the Beaches resort in Turks & Caicos. We found out tonight that the resort was hit BAD and our friend's wedding that was planned for 9/13 has just been cancelled. They are going to let us know in 24 hours if (1) the wedding is going to be in an alternate Beaches location - possibly Jamaica or (2) the wedding date is being changed. Supposedly the resort will reopen early October so they may push the wedding one month back.
As annoying as this is on our end as far as changing flight plans, our plans for A, the dog, etc.... I can't imagine how crazy my friend is right now to have to switch her entire wedding 2.5 weeks beforehand. Yikes!!

She hasn't answered texts or emails so I honestly don't know what she's thinking. We just found out a few hours ago. I know she really wanted Turks so I'm thinking she's probably going to change the date....but you never know if they're going to reopen on time so I'm sure that plays a factor in their decision also. She's got to be freaking out right now (I would be) and since she's dealing with so much I'm giving her some space and waiting until tomorrow when we hear more. I'll let you know when I hear from them.

thank you for the info Char. They offered her Beaches Negril as an alternate location so not sure how that place is. There's about 35 people going so sounds about the same size as yours. I will share this info with her and hope it helps her. thanks sweetie!!

WOW my Boss is stuck trying to get out of Turks right now. They were at the beaches resort for the past week and have been stuck for at least 2 days.
Sorry for your friend. I hope she doesn't stress too much.
ugh that sucks... i would be a hot mess right now too.
I hope that regardless of her choice all works out --
I'm thinking it would be easier for a change of location because not only all of the guests involved but i'm sure her and her FI have taken lots of time off work too and to rearrange all that seems quite stressful.

Ugh, that just stinks all around! Are they hoping for one over the other - the change of location vs. change of date?
If it's completely their choice, I think I would choose the change in location because the guests have already made that weekend available. Either way it's a PITA

That's really good to hear!! I haven't called the airline yet since we don't know if it's a date or location change yet so I was wondering if they were going to charge me to change our tickets. That's at least a relief that it won't cost her guest more $ to change the flights.

that sucks. we looked at that place for a vacation this year but decided to wait another year to go there. hopefully after they remodel it will be all brand spankin new for ya. but annoying!
check this out- my friend's wedding is on SUNDAY in NEW JERSEY! to boot, they are having a multicultural marriage (she is indian, he is american) and doing two ceremonies. basically they planned 2 weddings in one day and a giant party after. the venue isnt letting them cancel/reschedule! i havent talked to her. no one has. i imagine a bunch of people wont go- wont be able to go- maybe even vendors?? the poor girl. not to mention she has been dating this guy for like 11 years and now they finally decide to get married and this happens. poor thing.
