Carpet installers?
(I said "installers," not "munchers," so I don't know why you're in here OxAMY.)
This is probably a longshot, and I'm sure I would've heard about it by now, but are any of your DHs, dads, FILs, etc. carpet installers or do it on the side?
Holy crap, for being touted as the least expensive option, carpet (and its installation) sure are EXPENSIVE.
I have all of our measurements and such and we can buy the carpet and pad so I'm mostly interested in the labor portion.
Anyone?

I am totally LOLing.
H's sister's boyfriend was to be cheaper than carpet stores and such (and told us what a "deal" he was going to be giving us), but he came down last night to measure and charges just kept adding up. I did some math this morning and he's not much cheaper at all. (Disclaimer: He does own his own biz, I understand he doesn't have to give us any sort of discount, etc., he's being a little snakey about the whole thing and I don't love it.)
Anyway, thanks! I'll give his mama a call!
