Are you taking your cats with you when you leave? I would totally go spend the night at my parents house but I worry leaving my cats.  I know that's crazy, but if a tree falls on my house and there is a big gaping hole in house, I don't want my cats there by themselves!  One will probably die of fright and the other will leave!  :-/

If I didn't have cats I'd have no problem leaving my house.  Now I'm thinking I can send G to stay with my parents, and I'll be one of those people who refuses to evacuate because of their pets, lol.

I'd bring the cats with me if (1) they were better travelers and (2) my parents didn't already have an evil cat who hates other cats.

  • lol I was just about to write a post "For the love of my cats...we're staying home."!

I am soooo with you...I'd worry sick about them home alone. I was thinking of possibly packing them up and taking them with us, but where could we go with 4 cats and a baby? We're better off just staying put. Thankfully, we aren't in any of the zones and don't have any crazy, big trees hanging over us...ooh, and we're on the 3rd floor, so flooding shouldn't be too much of an issue...we'll see. So, we're going to ride it out and hope for the best!

Is your mom in a safer area than your house? Maybe bringing Gabriella over there might be a good idea if they are. My sis and 'rents are both in zones, so we are better off staying home. Good luck and stay safe!

  • My parents are actually RIGHT on the water, they are in zone C.  But they are in an apartment on the second floor, so they won't have flooding in their actual apartmnet.  There are no big trees near them either, and only 4 sets of windows to worry about.  I am not in a zone at all, but the big trees worry me.  Our 'hood got trashed with the tornado last year, so I've seen first hand the damage those big trees can do!

I think I'm going to ask my parents if they want to stay with me.  I just don't want to get stuck by myself with no electricity and a baby and two cats!
