Happy Friday!

What is everyone up to this weekend?  I am hoping Irene won't ruin our plans.  We have a big party to go to Sunday in the city.

Re: Happy Friday!

  • Happy Friday!

    Not much going on here.

    What's the party for CDC?

SIL and a few others I know are going to Kenny Chesney on Saturday night, I'm wondering how the weather will hold up.

  • Happy Friday!

We don't really have much for plans this weekend. The storm is already screwing things up. Dinner with my grandmother tonight. Nothing going on tomorrow. Sunday I was going to try to get together with my BFFs but its looking like that won't happen... and H is probably going to end up getting stuck at work all day. Boo...

    Anniversary
  • Oh no, CDC, I hope the party is inside! Be safe driving that morning, it will definitely be rainy and windy. I have a friend's bachelorette party Saturday and will be driving home Sunday morning, but she only lives 20 minutes from me.

  • We don't have much planned. SIL was supposed to come down on Sunday but she probably won't now with the weather. We'll probably be nesting... we've done a lot of that lately.
  • This Friday took foreeeeever to get here!

MIL is on her way home and friends of ours are arriving tonight to stay with us for one night. So today I have to go home, change the sheets, buy some food, etc.

Tomorrow we're hanging out with said friends in the morning, doing some touristy stuff I think (though they haven't told me exactly what they want to do).  Then in the late afternoon we were supposed to go to a volleyball/BBQ farewell party for some friends but the weather isn't cooperating.  DH and I offered to host everyone at our house instead so now we have that going on.

Sunday I really hope is just a breather day.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • We are heading up to Mass this afternoon and looking at apartments all day tomorrow.  DH starts his new position on 9/6, so we have to find something this weekend.  He wants to head back to Philly either Saturday night or Sunday morning, but we'll see what is going on with Irene before we make a decision.  I would rather not blow away trying to rush home seeing how I drive a Mini and that is what he wants to take up there.  He was dead set on taking his convertible, which is horrible in the rain, but thankfully changed his mind.

Sunday if we are back home, we have to do stuff to the house the realtor suggested.  I bribed my girlfriends with alcohol to help me "neutralize" the paint colors in the dinign room and kitchen.  We also need to clean out the closests upstairs because we are gettign rugs put down next week.  This moving stuff is for the birds.

Oh yeah, moving definitely sucks.  Hope it goes as smoothly as possible for you.  And, wow, you guys are trying to get an apartment quick!

  • We hope to have a play date later, but it will depend on the storm.

I kicked off my weekend with The Help last night!

Tomorrow DH is taking our nanny car shopping in the a.m. Then we have a birthday party to go to (so I will be scrambling for a gift in the a.m.). Tomorrow night I have a ladies wine tasting with my November moms from the hospital group but again, we'll see how hard it's raining.

Nothing planned for Sunday yet (I don't think!)

  • We don't have any plans for the weekend.  I'm hoping Irene isn't going to be that bad, but I do plan on running a few errands on Sat. morning, than hunkering down through the rest of the weekend.  Pretty much what we did with the hurricanes in FL.

Be careful everyone!!!  Let's hope she's just a small storm once she gets up here.

I was in your shoes a couple of months ago. Hang in there! Wish I could help you paint. I love it!

Dude, you can come help me paint anytime! Smile  I've been wanting to turn our study into a fun, orangey color but DH won't let me.  Boo!

A family reunion basically.  DH's out of town family hasn't been up here since we got married over seven years ago.  They are making the big trip up here to visit!

  • Good luck apartment hunting, Pupasaurus!  I hope you find something you love.

I'm going out after work tonight with some colleagues, one of whom is getting married in a couple of weeks.  Tomorrow, will be low-key.  And Sunday, I have to be to work at 3 pm, so I'm hoping it's not too big of a PITA to make it in.  I have a program starting that afternoon, and we're still going forward despite the weather. So I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off for the last two days trying to build contingency plans.  I'm just hoping most of our people make it in today/tomorrow (there's 29 total, but only 5 are from the US).  I'll be spending copious amounts of time on the phone the next two days, I'm sure.

    Stupid Irene.

  • Happy apartment hunting Pup.

No real plans for us. Tonight is still TDB. DH has a football scrimmage tomorrow morning so I'll be hitting the grocery store and doing laundry in the morning. A friend of mine is in town and her bday is today so she is planning on going out in Boston tomorrow night to celebrate. We're planning on going but will play it by ear depending on the weather. Then Sunday is just hanging out at home. Probably a movie day. I'm really hoping for a hurricane day on Monday so I can work from home.

Just remember September is out. I picked out paint colors for 5 rooms and 2 hallways in the new house this week ;)

  • C, have fun! I hope that it's hurricane-d out on you, it sounds fun!

  • Thanks ladies.  From what I saw of Mass, I really like it and am excited to move there.  The accents make me laugh, but I know Philly has one too.

We did find an apartment in Worcester.  With me not having a job yet, the most logical thing was to stick with that area because it seemed pretty central.  It is right in downtown, so DH gets his downtown place and then once the house sells, we are going to be looking in the suburbs.  Plus the place we found let us sign a 6 month lease and breaking it if we needed to the lease break is not too painful.  It was clean and had security and the best part for me, they are building a dog park right next door in the next few weeks for residents.  I was worried about our BSC dog in an apartment. Plus, this is all temporary.

I hope you all are safe.  I know the hurricane is in your neck of the woods now.  We ended up driving home early yesterday to beat it.

  • Glad you liked it, and super cool that you guys found a place (even temporarily).

The accents make me laugh too.....although when I visited friends in FL, one laughed at me when I said "Wicked".  It did take awhile to get used to how some of the names of town are pronounced, totally different than what I would have said.  And trying to say Worcester the correct way is still a struggle Smile

Watching the wind and rain right now, worse will come a little later, but we've already gotten some pretty good gusts here in Grafton.  Glad you made it back to PA safe!

Once you get settled here in MA, let's grab the guys and meet up for coffee or drinks.

  • cwbykitty- definitely.
