Hello ladies.
I'm mostly a lurker but I'm hoping to become more active on these boards, so I was hoping I could get some recs?
I've got some issues with my spine giving me pretty bad back and neck pain and my dr keeps recommending that I go see a chiro. For some reason I'm scared to death of it. DH will try and crack my knuckles and it just freaks me out, so I've been putting off going. Buuuut the pain has gotten pretty bad so I was considering trying to find a chiro, but I have NO idea where to start. I'm actually from CB, but I work off of 120th and Giles so I'm willing to go anywhere around work, around home, somewhere in between, I just want someone who will do a good job and I can trust.
Do you ladies have any recs? Thanks so much in advance! =]

I haven't been on this board in a while, but I wanted to suggest that you see Dr. Emily Gartner with Gartner Chiropractic. She is located in the Harvey Oaks Plaza at 144th and Center. Her number is 402.210.2212. She is great!
Dr. Leslie Martin. Martin Chiropractic & Wellness on 132nd and Maple. She's awesome!
3675 North 129th Street
Omaha, NE 68164
(402) 614-8334
I go to Dr. Kate Hansen, 87th (I think) and Pacific. She is very kid friendly as well-Her kiddo is there and lots of patients will bring their kids too-if that is something you need.
Dr. Dan Kjelgaard at Advance ChiroCare. He's in CB - in the old Chamber of Commerce buiding. 712-256-5440
He is amazing. His specialty is to actually change the way your spine is. He uses regular manipulation, powerplates, and traction. When I first saw him, I couldn't sit for more than 30 minutes without hurting. Now, as long as the chair has decent support (not completely straight backed), I can sit for 2-3 hrs and be fine! He's also gotten rid of my headaches, and if one happens to flare up, it's gone with one adjustment. He does xrays to show how your spine is changing and I have a curve that I've never had before. :-)

Oh my goodness, thank you so much for all the responses!
indo - I had someone else say something to me about taking DD in to the chiropractor with me. I had never even thought about as I just assumed the chiro was for people with spine issues. Do you know what kind of benefits it can have for kiddos? I usually have to take DD with me to appointments as it's not always easy to get sitters, so if it's something she could benefit from as well, I'd definitely do that!
MissManda - I'm definitely going to check him out. My spine is actually shaped kind of like a question mark from what my doc says, so that definitely sounds like what I need. And it would be nice to have one close to home as well.
I do thank you all for all of your suggestions though, and I'll definitely call around to all of these places before making my decision!! =]

I would look around for someone who also does acupuncture. My DH did acu for awhile for his allergies. His schedule didn't mesh with when they were open but he did think it helped. My chiro also does kinesiology (sp?) and nutrition and can advise on vitamins, supplements, etc.

I've taken DS with me to appt's before - I just call and make sure they aren't super busy so if he decides he doesn't like his car seat, someone can take him. And they have a play area for younger kids and coloring books for slightly older kids. But, Dr. Dan does see babies/children also. He was doing an adjustment on a 10-11 month old last time I was there that got chronic ear infections. (Her brother and sister were probably 7 and 10 and were just hanging out in the kid's area reading books).

I'm guessing they use a different technique on kids. I haven't done it either but DH said it didn't hurt.....it was just weird. All of his needles were in his face and neck too.

Good to know! Thank you! I made an appt for next Tuesday! =]
I actually cringed when I read that! haha. Maybe I should try it myself first. I've always been intrigued by it, I've just always been a wuss. =]
