Gift idea for a 12 year old?
It's our 10 year old cousin's birthday tomorrow. We brought her back a big bag of gummi bears from Germany (that she requested) but want to get her a little something else, too. I'm puzzled though.
She's 10 (going into 7th grade? do I have the age right?). Likes art and reading. Maybe some cool art thing? A book? No clue!!! Anyone hip to these things with a good rec? Looking to spend like $10-20 or so.
*** EDITED: subject line to reflect cousin's actual age...

If she's 10, she's likely going into 5th grade. (Most kids are 5 years old when going into kindergarten.)
At that age she'd probably like one of those crafty kits, like make your own candles, or make your own lip balm, or something like that.
GL!
OK. She's definitely past 5th grade. So, I re-read the invitation. She's turning 12.
Does that change things?

You guys are great! Thanks a bunch!
Not sure if I'm late (if I am, file these away) but there's a series of books called Kiki Strike - there are two so far (and I WISH she would write more) - by Kirsten Miller. It's hard to describe, but the characters are all about 12. I cannot recommend them enough.
HTH!
the first one:

the second is called "The Empress Tomb"
Not too late! I just emailed the mom to make sure she hasn't already read them. there's a local bookstore down the street that i LOVE so i like buying things there when i can (and it helps that they have wrapping paper and a gift wrapping station gratis!)
