We haven't had a lot of new posts lately! Between babies, pregnancies, work, and Hurricane Irene (for the East coast gals), we must all be busy.
Drop a quick line, what are you up to?
Re: we must all be busy!
RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.
It has been a crazy week! last week I posted about a job interview at a much closer school.. well I did not get the position- but I was so close (I think they took an alumni/ or someone moved from the middle school up- b/c even when they called me back the principal was like you did awesome, and if an opening comes up again do not hesitate to apply!)-
I had one day of sadness (DH helped make me feel better by saying "you have a job, dont worry if you did not get that one") The following day I had to set up my classroom and get ready for the school year at the same school I was last year. The past two days were PD days, and my part-time job had a store grand opening- so I had to go help with the opening after school and got home really late! I did get my schedule today and I have awesome classes (which I knew already)- but even the students in them are 95% good kids -(last year I had the worst of the worst for 4 out of 5 periods). I am excited for this year now!!
Now hurrican prep, and my first day of school was already cancelled!
We had our fall sports kickoff BBQ tonight. It topped off the end to my first full week as a teacher! I will be back in the morning to catch up on everything, though
I'm guessing it'll take me a good 3-4 hours to catch up on everything and then another 3-4 hours to plan for next week. Oh the joys of being a first year teacher

Ohmygosh! I hope your house is okay! You guys stay safe and update us as soon as you can!
No hurricane prep here. We actually did have a "hurricane" a few years ago when Hurricane Ike came up through Ohio and was still around a category 1. TONS of roof damage around here. So, we probably won't get one for awhile again.
Tonight we had BIL and SIL over for dinner and had a blast! Tomorrow I am seeing the help with my friends and then having nacho night Should be fun!

Stay safe! I hope everything is alright for you, DH, and your home!
So glad to hear that you are excited for the new year! And I cannot believe your first day was canceled already. Where are you again?
I hope the power loss does not go on for too long! Good luck with the final prep in your room. When is your first day?
I had inservice all week. I went in yesterday and finish prepping my room for the first day. I left it all nice and organized! This weekend, I need to get back to lesson planning. I had done some, but now that I have met other teachers and gotten some ideas, I have changes and new ideas to plan for.
I've also been planning my future SIL's bridal shower and bachelorette party. There has been a lot of craziness with these. The MOH and most of the bridesmaids are not much help, so my one SIL and I are doing all the work. DH is downstairs right now cutting the invitations and recipe cards I designed to stuff in envelopes. I still need to get addresses for about half to ladies invited because the bride only gave us phone numbers, ugghhh!
On the home front, we are in a Tropical Storm warning here. We are a little further west of the hurricane, so we should not get it as bad. We are concerned about the flooding, wind, and possibility of losing power. The worst of it is supposed to come overnight which may keep us from knowing exactly what is going on outside.
Good luck and stay safe to everyone in the storm's path!
I love this! So far I feel the same way about my co-workers and admin!
Yay for positive moves in our careers!
Finished up band camp despite rain and earthquakes, and only have evening practices next week, though the director added an hour so they're 4-9:30 now...
we're working on the nursery this weekend and I'm going to finally be able to start working on various projects around the house since I'll be home during the day.
This is the first time in 20+ years that I'm not getting ready for school (either as a teacher or student) and it feels weird. I don't know what I'm going to do with myself in a few weeks when everyone is back at school (both teacher friends and grad school friends) and I'm home all day...
Yes! My last job wasn't a good situation....not a lot of administration support, and the staff wasn't very unified. This school is the complete opposite. It's nice to know it was a good move!!

I am a gluten-free, gun-toting wife! :P
I love you, Daddy...2/24/1953 to 2/13/2011
I hope all of you in the storm's path are ok!!! Let us know!
I feel bad for being MIA for so long again. We didn't have internet hooked up at the house for a while. Every weekend has been busy too: cousin's wedding, get together with an old friend, anniversary, moving, bachelorette party and shower. Plus, I am planning a little house warming party for next weekend and my best friends out of town wedding is the week after that. Today I started painting the baby's room! It is a light orange color, like a melted dream-sicle. I love it
(And we decided to not find out the gender!) On the not so good side, my horse has been injured for a while. She got better for 2 weeks and then knocked her shoulders out of place last week. It's really hitting me hard because I was hoping to train her until my belly didn't fit in the saddle... losing my riding time is bothering me a lot more than I thought it would
It's been part of my life for a few years now, so not having it is like not having a good friend to turn to when I need some comfort.
Work has been keeping me busy, as well as final repairs to our house!! We are getting new a new roof on both the garage and the house tomorrow & Tuesday, and a plumber is coming towards the end of the week to install a new utility sink (never thought I would be soooo happy to get a new utility sink- but our current one is all kinds of nastiness). We moved buildings at work- starting at the end of last month, and the last of the move should have happened this weekend. We spent a couple of days at work this week sorting through everything in the one lab that needs to be ready for students on Monday. And still had to find time to do normal work stuff.
And we went to another out of town wedding. I am so looking forward to a few weekends at home! My fall house projects are to finally print wedding pictures and to hang things on the walls in the bedrooms/office& living room!
Hope everyone had a good weekend!
I posted a few days ago about my Uncle passing, we had the funeral Friday. Thank you all for your kind words. It went well but was obviously really hard.
Then Friday night I had book club with my girlfriends, then Saturday spent time swimming and going to the fair with my sisters and their kids, then today went to MIL's for lunch and caught up with friend over coffee. Now just relaxing.
I started my new job this summer and it's been great but I've only been averaging 2-3 days/week lately. So I've been trying to cook/clean a lot, get stuff done around the house and get started on the nursery, and just relax!
