sleeping help

Moms...help needed, hehe! Any suggestions on helping little ones sleep. Little miss hates sleeping in her crib and bassinet. Any tips to help her sleep better. Thanks so much!! :)

Re: sleeping help

  • I know it's tough...but at 2 weeks old they really don't sleep well regardless of what where they are or what you do. I think A was only sleeping for about 2 hours at a time when she was that young.

A also hated her bassinet and she always slept better in a swing or bouncer and she spent many a nights sleeping in them. You could try that!

  • Oh, and I don't know if you are already swaddling her, but you could try that too. It never worked with A. she hated it, but I have friends who swear that swaddling helped there babies sleep better.

  • K was up literally once an hour until she was 10 months old.  You adapt to it, really, i promise.  And I'm someone who needs 10+ hours a night.  Try the swaddling, swing, crib......you'll be ok!
  • Hate to break it to you, but she's still so little that she probably wont want to sleep anywhere...we used to swaddle Logan until we knew he was really sound asleep and then put him in the bassinet/crib...eventually he got used to it...good luck!

  • swaddling work for both of mine.

Ava slept in her snugride carseat for 2 months - she'd scream in the crib or bassinet so we did what worked. we'd put the carseat on the floor in our room so we could see her.

Sam did well in the fisher price rock n play sleeper. similar shape to a carseat, but higher off the ground.

  • We used to put Harrison in his swing until he was completely out and then we'd move him to his bassinet for the night.  He never napped in his bassinet.  At 2 months, we moved him to the crib because he just got to big.  Swaddling worked sometimes but we couldn't swaddle his hands...he HATED it.  Dancing with music always helps!  We listened to a lot of Michael Buble while I was pregnant and that's the only music that still soothes him.

You are my soulmate. Mini was the same way.

  • thanks ladies! :) that makes me feel better to know you guys went through it too. I thought I was doing something wrong. I dont mind staying up with her. It must be hard for them to get into a routine of sleeping at night.
  • I'm sorry Mama but, at two weeks there is no hope of a schedule.  Babies that young eat and sleep on demand.  I know it is exhausting but, it doesn't last forever!

    Have you tried swaddling?

  • yes, you are completely right. It is exhausting but 110% worth it. She is amazing! I love her more than I could ever describe! :) She loved being swaddled at first and now loves to have her hands and arms out of the blanket but not her feet lol.

  • Don't know if it was mentioned since I didnt read further but my suggestions is to tightly swaddle and the swing low setting swing side to side
