Irene is a total biotch. Everyone here is freaking out, and we haven't even gotten to the store yet. They're talking about being ready for being without power for 5 days, and I'm waiting on an email to see if the first day of school is still tuesday. the police were filling my high school gym with cots and animal beds for local neighborhoods that are being evacuated.
To make it worse, the eye of the storm is headed right for central CT. ugh. we're going to be staying with my parents, because if our power goes out, we lose everything (water, ways to cook...), but I'm nervous about our house. there's a huge tree that's half dead, and they're talking about trees being uprooted from the wind. I also got a voicemail from the power company saying to be prepared for power outages for 5 days because they wont be able to get to everyone.
I'm sure many of you have seen how they're evacuating new york, and shutting down highways. they shut down one of ours last night, and trains are stopping at noon.
Needless to say, I won't have internet if we dont have power, and even if I have school, I cant get on the nest there. Everyone keeps talking about hurricane gloria, but I wasn't born yet, so I have no freakin idea what to expect.
Shazzie--I hope you're moving inland!!
Edit: Shazz, I just read your blog. I wish we could just hunker down here at our own place, but my mom is scared that our stairs are going to blow away, adn we wouldn't be able to get outside haha.
Re: Signing off possibly...
Melko, stay safe! You too Shazzie!
When Rita hit Houston a couple of years ago, the panic level was just as bad as this. The storm ending up knocking out our power for 9 days but other than the headache no power causes, the storm damage wasn't too awful. I really hope Irene is the same way.

I hope there isn't much storm damage. As annoying as having no power is, sometimes it's a nice vacation because you can detach from TV and internet and read a book or something
Also, my uncle works for a power company in WV and they are mobilizing a lot of crews that are not going to be affected by the storm and already sending them to areas that are expected to be hit hard. I know it may still take time to get power back on, but at least they'll have extra man-power
