Re: Stay safe ladies!

  • stay safe too...I feel pretty well prepared!
  • Ditto - hope everyone stays safe!

We've done as much as we absolutely can to prepare here. I'll hate losing power, especially for an extended period of time, but if that's the worst to happen, we'll survive and count ourselves lucky.

I'm worried about my sister who lives on Kent Island and chose to ignore the evacuations. Foot's is talking about the storm hitting the southern Chesapeake Bay harder than initially anticipated - rainfall totals in NC are higher than predicted.

  • We got the call today and yesterday from AA County suggesting that we evacuate due to living in a low-lying area (we live in a waterfront community, less than a block from the water).  We are still home but I'm starting to get nervous because our front yard is already flooded and the back garage door had water coming in.  We put sand bags to stop that at the least.

I just read on Foot's that they believe the storm surge to be equal or greater than Isabel.  Many homes in this area were destroyed during Isabel.  Our neighbors indicate only the roads in our neighborhood flooded at that time, so I'm praying we will be safe.

  • we're ok right now (in baltimore city). no power flickers as of yet (hoping the electricity holds out as long as possible) but we do have water rising up from the ground in our basement (gravel floor). nothing too important down there except for our washer and dryer, but at least they're up on a little patio H built.

the ice cream truck did come by a bit ago.

  • So far everything is ok in Howard County. But the worst won't be here until lasted tonight through the morning. DH is a meteorologist, so he is keeping an eye on everything. Stay safe ladies!
  • I'm really worried about my aunt. Her basement has been leaking all week. She's suppose to have a french drain put in two weeks, obviously this rain is not helping. I'm pissed at my dad that he couldn't go over there to help her with the flooding basement. At least one of the kids she babysits for is there with her tonight. We would of went over, but our neighbor is having issues and DH is worried that our basement may flood too. Hopefully this rain ends soon.

    Stay safe ladies!
