Ok, so it's not so much of an aftercare question, since I know all the basics.
I repierced the cartilege in my left ear (the hole was still mostly open) about a week ago, and have a piercing stud in it from when I had my lobes pierced ages ago. It's still fairly sore. Does anyone know a faster way to make the inflammation go away and the soreness stop?
I clean it twice a day with antibacterial wipes, and leave it alone for the most part. It's not infected, it feels more like it's slightly bruised. It could be just irritated from me tossing and turning when I'm sleeping, but it's really bothersome. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Re: Piercing care help
I'm trying to remember what I used on my ears when I had them pierced...what was it?....18 years ago? Hydrogen peroxide maybe? Don't remember.
Do you have any kind of bandage on it? If it's sore from tossing and turning, maybe you could put a few layers of gauze over it, then tape that in place while you sleep so it doesn't get caught on anything.
And, maybe take some ibuprofen?
This probably isn't very helpful, but I got my cartilage pierced ages ago and it took forever to stop aching. Aside from taking good care of it and trying not to touch it, nothing really helped except waiting. If your piercing there last time was relatively pain free, hopefully you are a fast healer and the ache goes away soon. I think it was about 6 months before mine completely stopped aching, and even then if I accidentally slept on it all night with an earring in the pain would come back for a few days. (I am a slow healer, my lobes took awhile too).
That part of the ear seems reluctant to take to piercing, or at least mine does. I had mine for about 7 years, and it closed up after less than 3 months of not wearing an earring in it.
Until it feels better, could you take a tylenol a couple times a day?

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try salt water, since I can't get hydrogen peroxide in stores here (believe me, I've tried!), gauze when I sleep and tylenol.
I pierced it myself about ... five years ago now? I only wore an earring in it for six weeks til I got tired of it, and then have left it alone since. I'm honestly surprised it was still open. It was only the skin on the back of my ear that was closed.
Can't remember how long it took to stop throbbing last time. I think it was around three weeks or so. My lobes stopped hurting around day 12. I've done almost all of my piercings myself. Two lobe piercings, cartilege and my nose. The first lobe piercings I had done when I was 7.
One more tip: stay away from roller coasters! I got my cartilage pierced on both ears several years ago and a week later I went to a theme park. Bad idea, ears got battered.
You pierced yourself? Ouch! I'm ok getting pierced but I can't inflict pain to myself, I wouldn't be able to push the needle through all the way.
I've got 3 lobe piercings, three cartilage, navel and (TMI) nipple.
I did it fairly slowly, with lots of ice afterward. A shot or two of vodka wasn't a bad thing at the time either!
No worries about roller coasters. I'm too chicken to go on any rides like that. ^_^
Hahahahaha! Oh hellz no, I wouldn't be piercing it myself.
I did my labret once, but let it heal since DH didn't like it.
