Moms: Milk in mac and cheese question
I found a recipe for crock pot mac and cheese and I bought little baby shells so it would be appropriate for Abe. Then I realized that there is evaporated milk in it. Can I feed it to him?
Re: Moms: Milk in mac and cheese question
Brianne, a milk allergy is pretty rare (although lactose intolerance is not). You'd know if he had a milk allergy; massive eczema, bloody stools with tons of mucus, explosive/projectile pooping and vomiting, etc.
If you're worried about the lactose intolerance, though, evaporated milk may be okay once the heat re/de-natures the protein, but you'd know best how Abe reacts to dairy. And if he was okay with ice cream, you're probably okay with the evaporated milk.
I know there is a difference and it is rare...I guess I was just lumping it all together rather than typing out both.
Sorry-- it's been a while since I'd read any more about Abe and dairy, so I wasn't sure if you'd narrowed it down yet...
