We are skipping the party today. Yesterday we were out driving, and the rain was pouring down. It was scary. I do not like when the rain is so heavy that everyone on the high way slows down because they can't see. So I am spending the day in!
Re: Staying in for the storm
It was pretty awful. My colleague and I ended up having to do a grocery run for the participants arriving today (which is a whole other vent for another day) - we were on Memorial Drive around 4 pm, and the puddles were already huge. There was even a car stalled out in the middle of the road.
Stay safe, everyone!
Our little Irish rose came to us on March 5, 2010
Don't drink the water.

I'm sorry you had to miss your party, cdc. Better safe than sorry though, that's for sure.
That's kinda cool, cwby!
We're definitely staying in and having a lazy day. We did have to go outside to stake our Asian Pear tree because it was leaning quite a bit to one side.
Got up this morning and made Ina's mac and cheese (I love being able to prepare dinner in advance!) Then relaxed, made some cute cards to have on hand, played cribbage with SO and a friend, and just hibernated. Everything looks good with our place, no damage and no water where it should not be.
We walked around the neighborhood a bit this evening and saw a car around the corner that had an unfortunate altercation with a very, very large branch... the branch won!
The only down side is that SO had to cancel his trip to a conference in San Francisco because his flight was canceled and the next available flight they were offering him was on Thursday... (the conference ends on Friday morning...)
Other than that, all is good!
We lost power yesterday morning and are still without it. By mid afternoon we were bored and went over to MIL's to watch a movie and just be somewhere with power! That evening we decided it would be smart to go back home and get all our perishable food from the fridge and freezer and take it back to MIL's - we also decided just to stay at her place last night.
If our power doesn't come back on today, looks like we'll be staying there again tonight.
Other than the power situation, no damage to our place. But on our drive to MIL's we took the back roads and had to turn around at one point because a huge tree was down across the street. It was crazy!
