What are your plans for this weekend?
Have they or are they changing because of Irene?
Re: Weekend plans?
We actually didn't have any plans for the weekend even before the storm.
I was supposed to go to a PartyLite party in Westminster on Sunday, but I won't be making that drive now. I was going to visit, not to buy, so it's no biggie.
Other than that, we didn't have plans this weekend. If possible tomorrow, we'll probably take DD out for awhile so that we get out of the house a bit before getting stuck inside due to the storm.
Pre-Irere
Friday - hang out, Saturday go to memorial party (in Pgh) and come back in one day. We were going to do an overnight, but see Confession below.
Sunday - errands, etc.
Post Irene
Friday - buy a 24' extension ladder and clean out the gutters.
Saturday - DH still wants to go & I would prefer to stay home
Sunday - probably hang out at home. Maybe make more ice cream?
Confession: I am ashamed and embarrassed that I am a really bad pet parent. Perry apparently has hookworms. If I had kept up with their heartworm meds, he probably would not have gotten it. After DD was born, I was a bit pre-occupied and forgot. With the exception of the past 6 months, I have been VERY good about giving them their monthly heartworm stuff. So, we can't take the dogs to my mom's - her dog is not showing signs of hookworms and is not on heartworm meds, either. (Neither are IL's dogs).
I have learned my lesson. (If I had just had them on HWM, it would have cost me probably $200 for both dogs for the year. This has cost us $140 for hookworm meds for both dogs, blood tests for both dogs to make sure they are Heartworm negative, $100. Plus the heartworm meds $200. We could have saved oursevles and our pets damage to their health, time (running back to the vet with both dogs for bloodwork), money ($240) and convenience (being able to take the dogs to PA with us and go for the weekend and now we need to get someone to check on them.)Grr, I am so mad at myself.
We have a date night tonight, after finalizing our granite countertop order - woohoo!!
DD is sleeping over w/ grandma so I'll head down and pick her up tomorrow and we will try to stay out of the house as long as possible. Depending on tomorrow's weather, we may go to Chuck E. Cheese or the park.
Saturday and Sunday, DH and a helper are finishing framing and hanging drywall in our kitchen, so I am aiming to be out of the house as much as possible. If the weather is really bad on Sunday, the helper may not come, so we'll just hunker down at home.
We had no plans pre-Irene and we still don't. I am looking forward to spending some time with DS, and doing some cleaning and straightening, and hopefully we won't lose power right away because I need to do tons of laundry.
We also have a possible sick cat on our hands, so we're keeping an eye on that situation also.

don't feel bad, we um..have a flea infestiation
it's embarassing and disgusting. The everyday craziness made us fall behind on the frontline application and it is a full on infestation...ugh I shudder when I think about it. We spent all day Sunday vaccuming every square inch of the house, washing all beds, curtains, pillows, etc. Such a PITA, but I bet like us, you wont forget again. Hard lesson learned.
I'm scheduled to work tomorrow morning and Sunday morning. I was told to bring an overnight bag because there is a strong possibility they will be putting us up in a hotel since we are required to be at work for our shifts. Secretly (and selfishly), I'm hoping that MD is declared a state of emergency so I can have the weekend off. But I'm not counting on it.
Friday: Might go to happy hour because we'll be inside most of the weekend.
Saturday: We were supposed to go to a BBQ tomorrow, but it got cancelled. We might be buying a new laptop because DH's is dying. Go to the gym in a.m.
Sunday: Probably stay in due to storm
Today- I'm cleaning the house, making drinks (iced tea and kool-aid), washing clothes and washing dishes. Just in case we lose power.
Tonight- We are going to have dinner at a friends house.
Tomorrow- We are supposed to go to the Jimmy Buffett concert, but it's been postponed until September 4
Sunday- It's my 7 year wedding anniversary. DH and I were supposed to get a couples massage and eat dinner at Ruth's Chris, but instead he will most likely have to go into work since he is a trained personnel in (weather related) emergencies.
We had an awesome weekend planned, but with Hurricane Irene coming this way everything is being put on hold.
