What do you do....?

What do you ladies like to do on the weekends?  Especially those of you who live in or around OKC/Moore/Norman.  The cheaper the better, but I'm open to all sorts of things.

Thanks!

  • Lately we've gone to a movie every weekend for about the past month! This isn't exactly normal for us, though. I think we just wanted to enjoy the a/c ;)

We saw this new mini-golf place at the botanical garden downtown, but I don't think it's open yet. It looks close to being finished, though! That could be fun.

Do you recommend any that you've seen?  We like to go to the movies, but haven't been in a few weeks

We've seen HP7Pt2, Captain America, The Help, Fright Night (with my sister, not H), and today we saw Our Idiot Brother. I enjoyed them all, though Captain America would probably be at the bottom of the list. I'm also easy to please. I think HP and The Help would be my favorites.

Lately it seems like H and I have been out of town every weekend. When we stay in OKC, we enjoy going out to eat, shopping (okay, that's me more than H), reading, going to see live music, working on the house, watching some Netflix, and sleeping.

This weekend, H went to a mountain bike ride in Wichita Falls with some of his buddies. I went shopping early this morning, got my car washed, and painted most of our bedroom. Somewhere in there I developed a persistent headache, so I'm considering a nap.

  • We generally go out to eat at least once. If DH is working, I go dancing or hang out with female friends. If he's not working, we try to take in a show at least once a month (opera, music theater, or instrumental music.) They're of varying quality, but the university productions are generally pretty affordable!
  • A couple years ago, we started mountain biking. After you buy the bikes and gear, it's free! And it's fun and a great workout. Lake Draper has some awesome mountain biking trails. They are maintained by an Oklahoma mountain biking group. And they have many different difficulty levels. The beginner/easy loop is 4 miles, but they have a lot of bailouts if you don't want to do the entire thing. We started out with cheapy Academy bikes just to make sure we liked mountain biking. We recently upgraded to nicer mountain bikes.

We also like to go to the movies, go shopping, go on double dates, walk around campus sometimes. Oh, geocaching is pretty fun and it's free!

  • We eat out quite a bit as entertainment. We really enjoy trying new restaurants all over the metro. If you're close to OU or UCO, there's often lots of free or low cost events, concerts, festivals, performances, etc. on university campuses. If the weather's nice, we'll get an ice cream/snowcone/coffee and take our dog to walk around a park or OU. We meet friends for drinks and appetizers, which is cheaper than a full dinner out. Sometimes we bring work to coffeeshops or bookstores for an evening just to get out of the house. Football season comes with its own entertainment, what with watch parties and tailgating. We also try to stay aware of any local festival or event, like Jazz in June, the Arts Festival, Norman Music Festival, etc.
