HPV can live in the body for 10+ years before becoming active. So if it's that, don't jump to conclusions just yet.
If it's Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, or warts.......well, go ahead and jump because you're probably right.

I second PP- what is it? Do some research to see what you can get directly from another person. From my understanding (what my GYN told me) you can get certain things other ways.

Herpes can "lurk" too, more or less. It need not become active right after contact with somebody who has it.

What a dirty scumbag. My ex cheated on me and had unprotected sex with his intern during our engagement. I was so worried that he gave me an STD, but I've been tested since and (knock on wood), nothing came back positive (And I've been tested twice.) Still sucks that guys think it's OK to do stuff like that. Good luck.
