Poll: Your favorite doughnut?

I am trying to eat better after a summer of eating junk so I was thisclose to buying some glazed doughnuts this weekend. I knew they werent going to be as good as the ones back home, so I managed to leave the store without buying them.

Poll: So what is your favorite type of doughnut?

Do you prefer Krispy Kreme or Dunkin ? Or other?

I can't stand Krispy Kreme! I might be the only one to think they are way too sugary, but they turn my stomach. I liked the donuts at my local donut shop. mmm..thanks, now I want a donut.

My absolute favorite doughnut is a buttermilk drop doughnut from a local New Orleans bakery that is no longer in business.

But I'm not really particular with my doughnuts. I prefer them to be fresh from a bakery, not boxed in a grocery's bakery department. Who can not love the Krispy Kreme hot glazed ones fresh off the line? I have never had Dunkin Doughnuts. And I always get a box of Tim Bits whenever I am in Canada -- we do the Eastern Canada/New England cruise every other year, and a Tim Horton's in Sydney, NS is a favorite place for us to have coffee (or chocolate milk) and doughnuts during our explorations of the city.

I really love the Chocolate cake donuts with choc frosting from Dunkin! I splurge on one here every now and then. Krispy Kreme is okay - but always too much sugar for me. I can only eat one!

We had Randy's Donuts in LA this summer and they were awesome :-) Yum! The donuts here in Doha are pretty sucky, but we do have both KK and Dunkin, so I guess I shouldn't complain :-P

I like the classics - chocolate frosted donuts. I'd prefer the long ones, but those are out of style these days. I'm a DD girl as I find the KK ones to be too sugary. Well, the chocolate ones, because they are glazed as well. The plain glazed are OK, but I prefer chocolate to sugar.

I like plain cake doughnuts or chocolate doughnut holes, I prefer DD. KK is way too sweet.

Houston has a local chain called Shipley's Do-nuts (yes, they spell it that way--cracks me up), and man, do I miss them. I lived right down the street from the original location before we moved overseas. Their plain glazed are the best, but the chocolate iced and plain cake doughnut are pretty badass too. Add a cup of cheap hot coffee...heaven.

I'm so with you. I'm a true northeasterner... love Dunkin Donuts and can't WAIT to have a Boston Cream when I get home!

I would chose Dunkin Donuts over Krispy Kreme any day...but I have had much better donuts before in San Francisco...just don't remember the shop name.

I love glazed donuts. I prefer Dunkin Donuts though I think it is funny how everyone pulls their car over when Krispy Kreme puts on the sign.

Krispy Kreme is okay. I guess that after all the years listening to the hype I wasnt really impressed.

I haven't eaten a donut in years (weird to think about...) if I were going to have one, it would be a vanilla Dunkin Donut with vanilla frosting and rainbow sprinkles. It must have the sprinkles, it won't transport me back to childhood properly without them!

My favorite are cake donuts with white icing and sprinkles.

I love the sour cream Krispy Cremes but I stay away from the other flavors.

I like the glazed ones from Dunkin. I ate way to many of those when we vacationed in Berlin.

My favorite doughnut isn't a"brand". It;s the fresh cooked, hot out of the oil, cake doughnuts that we used to get at the apple orchard every fall. So hot and fresh the grease would start to soak through the bag. Pair those with chilled freshly pressed apple cider and crisp clear fall MI day...nothing better.

My favorites come from a small chain in MI. Sweetwaters Donut Mill. I love their cake doughnut with peanuts on top, or the plain glazed doughnuts.

I think DD is ok, and KK is way too sweet.

I'm not much of a donut person and have never had KK. I do like Dunkin and usually I go with boston cream or bavarian cream. I do also enjoy the little powdered donuts you buy in the box from the grocery store, but more just because I like to lick the sugar off.

Hot KK glazed are by far the first place for me with a milk. But DD is a 2 min walk, so a close second choice is chocolate glazed. Both are by far so much better than anything I can find in my town in England. I will so miss doughnuts when we get back, but is much better for me that they are aren't so readily available.

Out of all the Michigan girls on here I'm surprised no one mentioned Quality Dairy donuts. My favorite donut would be a Quality Dairy cake donut with chocolate icing. Now you've got me craving one. Darn you! lol

I'm pretty sure there is or used to be a Shipley's where I'm from in Texas too. I HATE donuts, though so I'm not expert. I think my parents used to get donuts there before we went on roadtrips though.
