Ovenight Trip - 2 Questions

#1 - We are taking our first overnight with the kids this weekend to Omaha.  I (of course) have already started our packing lists, shopping lists, zoo lists...etc.  As a result of this being our first overnight trip - I have anxiety about leaving something detrimental at home (Blankie, Teething Tablets...etc).  So - I need some help - what are things that are must-haves on trips, things that are easily forgotten but necessary...etc?  Thanks Ladies!

#2 - I have a 16 month old boy who wants absolutely nothing to do with long car rides - and "long" to him is the current 30 minute trip to daycare every day!  We have a Travel DVD Player for each Kiddo and will have snacks.  But- what do you recommend for this age group in the car?  His issue is he's perfecting his physical/motor skills so all he wants to do is run, climb, run, climb.  Also, knowing he will get restless at about mile marker 4 :) - do you recommend letting him out to stretch, run and deal with the aftermath of trying to put him back in his seat....or just drive the whole way through and deal with his fusiness while en route?

Thanks!!

Re: Ovenight Trip - 2 Questions

  • We have been on several driving and flying trips with DD.  I always make sure that I have ibuprofen, thermometer, extra paci and her teething gel.  Then the usual diapers, wipes, travel dish soap and bottle brush for sippy's etc.  Anything else we'll get there if we have to but never have had to.

Maddie really likes the travel magna doodle (Target/Walmart) in the car, we have used it on the plane too.  I also have an old purse with lots of little toys in it that she can unzip and zip and get things in and out.  You might want to try that with a little bag.  It keeps her busy for awhile.

Don't stress yourself out!  You are going to Omaha, not China so if you need something, it will be easy to get if you forget! Stick out tongue
