Did everyone stay dry??

We had a little water in the basement, but that's about it.  Hope you all stayed safe this weekend!

Re: Did everyone stay dry??

  • rain rain rain all day here (Syracuse), but yesterday was actually a pretty nice day.  We went to the fair and couldn't have asked for better weather.  Nice and warm with just a hint of a cool breeze.   Today... is very much the opposite, but it could be so much worse.

T&P to ayone affected by Irene.  Wishes for a speedy cleanup and better weather soon!

  • My area had almost 10 inches of rain.  There was a river going over the road but that's gone down a bit now.  There are lakes instead of rivers on people's lawns now.  The wind is really gusty now and the trees are bending a lot.  I have a tree down in my backyard from my neighbors yard that was dead but that's about it.  No basement flooding, the pool is still intact and we never lost power.
  • We had some water dripping down the basement walls.  We aren't even sure where it came from - possibly through the bottoms of the window frames and down the drywall.. I don't even want to think about it, and thank heaven this is over.  But no flooding or anything.  I can't dealw ith any more house issues!
  • We were without power but all dry...a super soggy lawn and I'm in the same-ish area as Dar- and we have some houses that are currently "lake front" properties...

just glad that i can get out of the house today with DS

  • We're all good at our house, luckily we live on a hill so no flooding.  We did lose internet though and it was still out this morning.  I was happy to have an excuse to be housebound with DH & DD all day =)

I spoke too soon.  I posted this at 6:35 and around 7 pm we lost power.  It hasn't come back on yet.  I'm sitting at a local Panera having lunch and using their internet and plugs to charge my phone and computer.  I had to take a shower in the dark this morning since I have no windows in my bathroom (had a candle and flashlight but that didn't do too much).  Then I sat outside to let the sun dry my hair since I can't use my hairdryer.  I just keep wondering how homeless people do it?  I'm just happy that I didn't have any property damage and I didn't buy many groceries that will spoil.  I haven't been home much lately to stock up.  I was told our power would be out for days possibly.  I guess a transformer blew in our area.  Funny how the business district didn't lose power but the residential section did.  That's the only thing that is annoying me right now.
