Detroit Opera House question

Ok so I'm looking at getting my mom tickets to see Wicked at Detroit Opera House, but I haven't been there (except for when I was wee young kiddo). I wanted to ask for advice on seating & tickets.

What are good sections for seating? Not too expensive but not cheap. I'm looking in the $100/ticket range.

Does main floor have good seating? I usually get seats for shows in the Mezzaine.

Does theater have elevators? (My mom has bad knees.)

Any other advise?

Re: Detroit Opera House question

  • I've been to the Detroit Opera House before, but it's a been a few years.  I've never actually sat on the main floor myself.  I want to say we've usually sat in one of the balcony sections.  Honestly, we were pretty high up and I still felt like I could see everything even in the nosebleed section! haha :)  If it were me, I'd probably want to sit in the mezzanine/upper levels as opposed to the main floor.

The few times I've gone we've always parked in the structure that accommodates the Opera House, so I'd definitely recommend doing that.  Some ticket packages even have that parking fee included.  It makes it pretty easy just to park and then walk across the street to the theater.

As far as the elevators go, I can't say 100% for certain since I've never used one there. However, I would be shocked if they didn't have an elevator somewhere because that would be illegal with all of the ADA policies and whatnot.  You could always call and ask about that just to be sure.

The whole theater is really beautiful though.  You'll both enjoy it.  Have fun!!
