seriously stupid Q about 3 year olds

Are they old enough to eat corn on the cob?

Re: seriously stupid Q about 3 year olds

  • I'd think so.. but i feel like they could choke easily on the little kernels. I do... Embarrassed

I have a feeling there is more to this.. I need the story behind this question please.

  • my guess is that i wouldn't let them do it unsupervised....but i don't have a 3 yr old, and my nieces and nephews are either way past that age, or not there yt...so i don't know for sure. i think it probably depends greatly on the child.

  • Ooh, I didn't think about the choking thing. Embarrassed

There's not really more to this story. BIL and SIL and their kid are coming over for dinner next week and I'm trying to figure out what to make.

I guess corn on the cob is out.

  • oh, lol.

What were you planning on making? I had corn on the cob yesterday... and it was to die for. (it isn't on my diet... but I cheated this weekend)

if mom and dad are at the table, i don't see why not. break the corn in half (kid size portions) and let mom and dad decide if they want to give it to the kid.

  • What about cutting it off the corn and semi-mashing it up for the kid?

  • I was going to make salmon, green salad and corn on the cob. I'm thinking about swapping the corn for broccolini now.

Btw, I got back on the MPF wagon this weekend and I saw your progress. You're doing awesome!!! Yes

I've found it at FCF, Whole Foods, and Amazon Fresh. It's super tasty and way yummier than regular broccoli.

  • Corn on the cob is great for 3 yr olds!

*not a mom, but a nanny to two kiddos. both love corn served in any manner. including frozen kernels. ha

  • I have a 3 yr old and 6 yr old and my 3 yr old loves corn on the cob so I wouldn't change it. I would say its the one veggie that most kids will eat.

You might want to have a box of KD or hot dogs in case they don't eat anything else. My 6 yr old loves salmon but I know my 3 yr old and her friends will not eat it.

Oh, and it's not a stupid question. These are all things you learn as you go... :)

  • Depends on the kid, really. My instinct is to say no, though - better to cut it off the cob for them.

  • Give the kids the corn! My son is 2 and loves it and while my daughter who is 9 months can't actually get any corn off she loves to gnaw on the cob.
