If you work downtown, what are your route plans

How are you planning on driving around Baltimore this week with the lane closures?  I normally take Light St and Pratt in for a period but they will be closed for the Grand Prix.  I'm weighing options on what roads to take later in the week as I need to come to work on Thursday.

  • I have no idea ha.  I'm not looking forward to it  (obviously I'm coming from downtown to the burbs but same mess.)  I need to look at the road closures again. They're closing a lot in our neighborhood and cutting us off that way. I might take Hanover to 95.

  • I've got no f'ing clue.  I was thinking of taking MLK around.  This morning I came in on Rt. 40 since I came from MIL house.
  • I'm thinking MLK is probably the safest bet.  Obviously the earlier you can come in, the better.  I think I'll be going to DH's office in Pigtown and riding over on the bus.

That site has all things traffic related.

  • Ugh everytime I think about the traffic this weekend it makes me sick.

I would only do MLK if you can get to work super early, or else I would stick to route 40 and the like. I can't think of how bad MLK will be as it absorbs all the traffic from 395 as well.

Yeah, I feel bad for people living in the city this weekend.  I thinking of trying 895, we'll see.

We are going away this weekend, because I have no desire to deal with race traffic.

  • I take the subway and that will be unaffected... plus my office decided to close on Friday. Even the light rail looks like it could get you pretty close to downtown... I would rather walk 6 extra blocks than sit in traffic. If I had to drive in I would probably just take vacation days. It looks like it's going to be one huge cluster.

  • The subway will be impacted.  They are urging people to use transit.  They are placing MTA ambassadors at all the local transit stops to help people get around.  They were looing for volunteers.

I might just call in on Thursday at this rate.

  • I had planned on just not coming in but my office scheduled a farewell for a coworker and myself on Thursday so I need to come in now.  I'm sure no matter what the route, there will be delays.

  • i'm going to ask if i can work in hanover for the day.  if not i might be taking the day off.  i'm not sure that my mlk solution will work, depends on how far back they close 395, need to investigate the map of closures.

We were planning on just hunkering down all weekend (minus the Stevie Nicks concert but coming home would be okay bc it would be late and we have a parking spot behing our house) but all of a sudden that seems like it's not the most feasible plan (not leaving the house for four days lol.)  I didnt realize how many of the streets leading into our neighborhood would be closed. Plus, I literally look out on Conway.  I am going to be STUCK.

This better bring in a lot of money for the city hahaha.

  • The Sun posted this article, which might be helpful to some. The main problem will be if you are coming from south of the city.
