Great question! It depended on who the person was. We told our parents and immediate family (and I told my BFF) almost immediately, the day after I got my BFP. Then we waited to tell extended family until I had my first ultrasound confirming the pregnancy was viable (at 8 weeks). Other more distant friends we told when I had my 20 week anatomy scan.
I only had to make up "excuses" a couple of times early on. I found out I was pregnant the week before going on a courier trip for work (during which I would spend three days on a truck driving cross-country; my OB didn't want me to ride on the truck, but there was really no way out of it). I was really bummed to not be able to drink while I was on the business trip, because I was eating out just about every night. My excuse for passing up my usual glass of wine with dinner was that I "still had work to do that night, so had to keep my head clear". Only one person later said she didn't fall for my bluff.

What is the cutest/funniest thing Milo did last week?
@Holly - my friends would work cranberry juice & club soda at the bar, or have her husband do it so we all just assumed she was drinking a vodka cran. I was totally duped.

Right now the plan is... maybe/hopefully. We always envisioned having more than one child, but we'll have to see if we're up for it financially (we'd like to get a house) and if I'm up to it physically (fertility-wise, plus, my heart was working too hard and my cardiologist wasn't sure what was going on, so in that respect it was good I delivered early). So we might start trying in another year or so, but for now we're playing it by ear.
Would love to catch you for lunch sometime! The times I was home during the summer I didn't have my own set of wheels so it was hard to get out and about (and I wasn't quite ready to brave public transit with the M-ster). But I will try!
I wish I could be a SAHM, but no, I will be going back to work next Tuesday (day after Labor Day). M starts day care on Thursday...

He has started to play "hide-and-seek" while nursing. He will start to suck, then come off and turn and look up and me and smile. When I smile back, he ducks his head under my boob and giggles, then latches on again. Rinse, repeat.

Oh my goodness, that is so funny! What a playful personality he has already!
My question is...What do you like best/least about where you live?
Yeah, he got me the massage appointment.

I really like the town we're in, it's got that great mix of urban/suburban where the main part of town is walking distance away but we live in a tree-lined residential neighborhood. And the town is centrally located and connected to everything. I love the Northeast with its change of seasons (even though I miss northern California too).
The thing I like least about living in Jersey is that it's do decidely not a part of Patriots Nation... it is so hard to be a closeted Pats fan out here! Though I was born in the Bronx, I grew up a New Englander.

That is super cute!
My question: Is it weird to see your DH as a father? What has surprised you most and least about his personality around Milo?

A10 Siggy Challenge: Next Vacation Destination: San Francisco!
It always hits me with a little pleasant surprise whenever I hear DH say "my son" in conversation, kind of like it was strangely wonderful to hear him refer to me as his wife. What's weird is how naturally he seems to be taking to it. There is a classic picture of DH a couple of years ago covered in paper towels because he had our niece sitting in his lap (she was attacking a banana). He looked so out of place! Now it's nothing to see him whisk Milo off for a diaper change, or take the initiative to get M to fall asleep.
I think the surprising thing is what DH is comfortable with and what he's not. Some things I figured he would be a natural at he isn't, and then some stuff I figured would be a challenge to him he is better at than I am!
I'm not surprised at how silly he can be with Milo, though I am always entertained by how imaginative DH is with him. For instance, after a couple of bad diaper "assplosions" we have taken to making sure the ruffles are out all around the legs on the diaper. DH turned these into Ruffles and proceeds to do a "potato chip check" every diaper change.

Soooo....would you ever consider loaning out that abso-freaking-lutely adorable baby boy of yours? Every so often I just get urge to hold and smell a baby...so I'm always begging my friends who have them to let me just "borrow" theirs for a few minutes :-)
ps - please be sure to bring those cheeks to the gtg!!!
Haha, Stacy, for a price, lol! As long as he's in a reasonable mood, I don't mind friends and relatives holding him; plus, he loves people. And oh yes, he said he'll bring me to the gtg...
