How is everyone this morning? I hope everyone is okay after Irene did her damage.
Saturday I ended up going to Statesboro where my sister and nieces live to get her to help me with my mom's birthday party since my lil sister who doesn't work, obviously, can't do anything. Anyway, we got a lot and started on the invitations. I have to finish those this week. I did the yarn wrapped numbers (so cute!) and painted the numbers for the wreath. I'm getting excited. That's about all that happened...

Re: Back to Monday..
Morning! I hope everyone up north is doing ok from Irene. I did have to laugh yesterday all the people posting on FB that they lost power. Only in 2011 can you still update your status with no power.
Saturday I spent worked then went to Gregs restaurant because they had there Grand Openning, after that we stayed to watch UFC. I don;t want to go back for a very long time, I think I was there for like 7 hours.
Yesterday I cleaned the house while Greg was at work. I wanted to vacum and wash the floors but I left that for him to do today. I kinda half azzed the tub since that is hard to do with a belly.
Last night my friend texted me to tell me that we will have babies 6months apart:) And that we should move back so the kids can be in the same class.
We have our fantasy draft tonight. I will pick Tom Brady as my number 1 pick. I have done this for the last 4 years so I won't be stopping this year
This weekend was fine with me. I managed to be one of the lucky ones in my area: I never lost power, my basement didn't flood, nor did my street and though a very large part of a tree fell over our driveway, it totally missed the cars.
There's all sorts of insanity. The interstate is closed. I live by two major rives (Mohawk and Hudson) and most of the bridges across them are closed. A couple of dams in the area were breached. There was a huge mudslide in my college town. Half of the city we technically live in in under 1' of water. Tons of people don't have power.
And my office is still open!

Hi strangers! How is everyone?
I've been so busy at work lately I've only been able to lurk.
I don't even know the last time I posted over here. They finally decided to make some changes at work and they hired H as the manager here. Its working out great so far. I'm about 100 times less stressed.
I hope everyone made it through Irene okay. We didn't get hit too hard (that I saw, at least). We lost power for a few hours early Sunday morning but it was back up pretty quickly. I was surprised. We heard a tornado touched down near us and we watched a transformer blow up, but that was the extent of it. In our apartment complex you can't even tell anything happened. It looks like our office got hit harder than we did at home. We're running on partial power with no a/c and a dead fridge.

Morning all. Quiet this morning, makes me worried about everyone else in Irene's path.
It's so surreal, since it was 90+ degrees and beautiful all weekend. I tried to stay updated on what was going on, but this weekend was non-stop, we were barely at home at all. I watched the Weather Channel all night Friday when barely anything was going on..
Saturday I worked until noon, went to the Blongo BBQ, then to the Bronco game. Lots of drinking and bad eating. 'Twas glorious.
Yesterday was brunch w/ the ILs, the Evergreen Arts Festival, movie, dinner, reading and the VMAs. Bad me for watching MTV instead of CNN. Glad that everyone who has posted is ok!
Morning all. Nichole great to see you back! I'm glad your H is back to work and your stress is much alleviated! That's awesome news.
Irene freaked me out, I won't lie. The winds and tornado warnings were awful. I'm very thankful we had no damage aside from downed branches and tree limbs. No water in the house and no loss of power. Many of our friends and family cannot say the same. I am very happy that the Jersey Shore did not get destroyed, only had minor flooding. Flooding is down in Philly as of this morning. One more major river to crest, and that happens today.Thinking of everyone still dealing with the aftermath.
I'm over the talk of who did what right or wrong. The fact is if you remove people from the equation, flooding and other issues are much easier to deal with, so evacuating is usually a good measure to take. I wish people would stop second guessing those decisions. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't, and after Katrina everyone in the government is thinking they'd rather be damned if they do, and I agree with them.
It is absolutely gorgeous today. I'm super psyched for soup weather, it makes lunches so much easier. Hi ho silver, awaaaaaaay.
My allergies are total as$holes. This is the worst time of year for me by miles.
I need to get my poop in a pile and see what I have to get done this week. It's a busy one personally for sure. Lots o' errands to do.
Hey all. Glad to see those of you that weathered Irene okay. At least it wasn't as big as they were forcasting. It seems there was enough flooding and power outages even with the downgraded size.
Our weekend was full, and we had beautiful weather here in Michigan. Friday was H's birthday and as I predicted, he didn't get home til way late so we spent Saturday together. Powerwashing his grandparents house and cement (and moldy outdoor carpet covered) porch. Big job. Took us from about 11am til almost 6, with a break for lunch. It's not even that big of a house. It needed it SO badly. It is shaded by a huge tree and had a horrible roof until this year, so the once yellow house was striped with green. Yuck. H also mowed our riding track that was overgrown so we could actually ride on it. THEN, FIL came to stay the night and bought us dinner so I wouldn't have to cook. YAY.
Sunday H was planning on leaving to finish working on that old car, but decided to stay home.
He moved dirt to fix our jumps and I weedwhacked around them so the weeds were gone. Still needs lots of work, but we got to ride for a while. Fun.
Glad to see you back LTB!
Happy sixth birthday to my Gussie. This is the day we picked him out in 2005:
Ugh, me too! My eyes are all itchy/watery and my throat is kind of itchy. I'm always stupid when they first start and go "oh, why are my eyes itchy?" and then am w/o my claritin/allegra/whathaveyou.

Hello everyone. Welcome back Nichole!
We survived ok here. We never lost power - leaving Chris extremely disappointed. He a generator and switches all prepped and ready to go. Everyone else around us lost power. The basement and garage flooded but we knew that would happen. The roof decided to fail though. We have leaks in four different rooms so that's going to be a major headache. It's one of the huge advantages to renting! That said, the river in front of the house I want to buy is cresting today. I'm going to go see if its truly above flood zone.
We got really lucky. There are so many trees downed and so many roads completely flooded around here. I glad to hear no one got hit too badly though.
Steph- Gussie is adorable
and Diana - congrats on the new puppy!

i cannot explain how insane yesterday was. and that it is 75 and sunny today makes it feel like a dream. until i turn onto my street...and it is washed away. and there is an 18 wheeler blocking the road that got swept down the river.

Happy Birthday, Gus! And HAI, LTB! Happy to hear your DH is working again!
Friday night and Saturday were a frenzy trying to prep for the storm. It is unfortunate that I had to do my regular grocery shopping on Saturday morning. There were 40 people in line ahead of me when I picked up my ticket for the deli counter. Bananas, grapes, water, bread & batteries were pretty much picked over. I really did love the millions of old retired people who were hitting up the store that morning, though. Cuz they're so busy they can't go hoard food during the week. Jeez.
We had a little bit of water in the basement, but did not lose power or have any major damage outside, so we got lucky. I'm glad the worst of the storm came through overnight and I was able to sleep through it. The Delaware is supposed to crest by tomorrow morning, so the bridges will be hit or miss for the next 36 hours.
Who else in the Philly area saw the two yahoos on the news rafting down main street in Manayunk? Dumb, yes, but I still didn't think they deserved to be arrested.
Geez Shauni, I can't get over those pictures. That's just devastating. I can't imagine at all. I really hope they can get everything back to as normal as possible soon.
Thanks Susie! He's thrilled to be working again. Although he keeps forgetting to not talk about work at home. :-)
We ended up with quite a few drunk people on the news in Baltimore. And footage of some idiot taking their boat out right before the storm hit.

Shauni, so sorry that you got hit so hard. Will be thinking of you and your friends.
This weekend the weather was beautiful here. Friday after work DH and I went out for dinner and a drink, bought curtains for our house (which I need to return today), and then went to my nephews' football game. Saturday we went to a music festival that he was covering for work and then had dinner at his parents' with the BIL who starts his senior year of college today. Yesterday was a major cleaning day and work.
Today I need to go get fingerprinted so I can turn in my substitute teaching forms, get more laundry done, run to the bank and then work.
We lost power yesterday. It was out for about 9 hours, but luckily came up before dark. I had to trash half of my fridge. Which led to a supermarket visit this morning - I had to make three detours because of downed trees. But the supermarket had replenished almost everything.
Our basement has had issues before, but we spent a lot of money fixing it. And we've had to have them come back and patch up stuff before, so I didn't have high hopes this time around. Surprisingly, it held up pretty well. One crack sprung a leak - not even a drip down the walls, it was shooting out the wall! And several previously patched places started to get dark and damp, but held. We ended up with a wet basement floor, and we may have to toss out our christmas tree (it was right under the brand new leak).
I couldn't get in to work today because NJ Transit is down, but it turns out my office manager told everyone to stay home. With most of the NYC subway down, she closed the office rather than add to the mess of the commute.
Shauni, I can't imagine how awful it must be to see so much devastation right in your front yard. I've been thinking about you and your friends and family. I hope you all pull together and get rebuilt soon. *hugs*
LTB - I was wondering where you'd been! Glad you're back. And happy to hear your H has a job! Hooray!
Steph - Happy Birthday to Gussie. Baby Gus is so cute, I just want to squeeze him!
We fared the storm quite well. We ended up on the very outskirts where we just got a pretty steady rain and some 50-ish MPH winds. No power outages and no flooding for us. I would say we were very lucky.
Baby Gus makes me want another puppy until I think back on what an ahole puppy Gus was and how he had his days and nights mixed up like a child, chewed all of my furniture, and bit me like mad. hhahaah
Shauni, I would give you a hug if I could. So much to process, so sad and devastated. Hang in there.
SuzieA - I saw the Manayunk aholes. WTF, seriously? Also the people driving through "puddles" the size of football fields and getting stuck. IDIOTS.
H and I survived the hurricane alright. Never lost power; no damage, just a few leaves in the yard. I was sitting there thinking this wasn't so bad - at least in our area - but then I heard a popping sound and looked out the window to see a tree collapsed on top of our poor neighbor's car. It's still there with the tree on top. The car is totaled. The same tree also took down the power line outside of our neighbor's house but somehow our power was left intact. We were very, very lucky.
Our breeder in Atlantic City was forced to evacuate with all the puppies and headed north towards her family down the Cape. So, now we're picking up our new puppy tomorrow instead of this weekend. YAY!!!!! SO EXCITED.
New job is going well but is why I haven't been able to post during the day lately. I do get home earlier now though, which is amazing!
Glad everyone here is safe after the storm
northstar - congrats on the new puppy!!
