Waterproof Digital Cameras
Does anyone have a good recommendation? We need to replace our P&S digital camera and want a waterproof one. I'm not interested in a case for a standard digital camera, as I've had really bad luck with those in the past.

I don't have a rec since we use a waterproof housing, but here's a thread from the Travel board that discussed this recently.

We bought this same camera for snorkeling in Cozumel. We used it 8 times in the water, including after opening it to charge the battery, and we had no issues. I was surprised at how clear the photos were considering it's pretty cheap for this type of camera (we got it for $150 on Amazon).
I recommend getting a larger memory card, though. On the highest-resolution setting (which the camera was already on), it only holds something like 8 pictures. We lowered the resolution and we were able to get 100+ photos, and they look good, but it would be nice not to have to worry about space and have the option to take higher-res pictures if we wanted to enlarge them.
The Lumix is actually the one we're considering now, based on all the positive reviews online. But most sites sell it for about $300! How did you find it for $150? Was it refurbished or used?

Mine was a different Lumix - I had to look it up, but it's the DMC-TS10.

It must have been more reduced than that when I bought it, because I spent $20 less than the reduced price listed according to my order history. I believe they had the same model on Target's website, too, but we needed it ASAP and weren't sure if we had time to make it to the store. You might want to stop by there if you want to check it out in person.
It got only 4 stars, but when reading the reviews I was pretty sure it was worth the money so I went ahead and got it. There were a few low-star reviews that pointed out things that were a non-issue for me, IIRC.
i have a lumix DMC-TS2 (i think it might be last year's model) and it's a great little camera. took some fun underwater photos/videos with it. it's also nice to have just on the beach and not have to worry about getting sand inside if the wind blows.
i highly recommend getting a floating strap for it (i got the olympus floating strap), especially if you're taking it in the ocean, and remember to wash the salt water off with fresh water before letting it dry.
I have a Lumix also and just love, love, love it!
As pp said, you'll need a bigger memory card--I bought a high speed 8 GB so it can write the bigger mp pictures fairly quickly and store a ton.
