How are my east coast "Irene" ladies doing?

How are you gals doing? Sounds like Gina had quite an adventure. Just making sure everyone is good and safe.

I was watching a lot of it on Saturday and up a lot during the night because my brother lives in NYC and so I was a little worried and wanted to make sure that everything was okay, so I didn't get much sleep on Saturday. They survived and didn't get as much damage as predicted, which I am happy about. It was weird seeing hardly anyone on the streets of downtown NYC.

I did see Long Beach though and you had the crazies walking boardwalk while the water was still going crazy, wind blowing, life guard house was crashing against the boardwalk because it was off its foundation. They were not only putting themselves in danger but the cops who would have to try to save them because they were stupid and didn't stay inside like they were told too. I just don't get it but growing up in LA I heeded the "Stay inside until we tell you to go outside" warning.

Hope everyone made it safe and sound through it.

  • We had very little going on here. Some wind and some rain but that is about it. We never lost power. We actually went out for lunch yesterday.

  • We were fine also. Had a pajama day, my favorite! Just wind, rain and some downed branches/tree limbs but we never list power :)

  • Hi ladies! It's been a while..i'll fill you all in with another post, but as for Irene, we had water in our basement....which is finished and we ended up ripping out a lot of the carpeting and threw it all on the back porch. A lot of the dry wall is pretty wet and it's just a mess. But my parents got it so much worse...from the pics my mom sent me, they basically had a river go right through their yard...a small creek overflowed and the runoff from a near by mountain was just too much, Their pool is compromised, new vinyl fence knocked down in various sections and they have a huge sink hole near the foundation of their house. I've only seen pics, but I can only imagine it's worse in person.

    Hope everyone else survived Irene!

  • We're fine and there was no damage to the house.  We just didn't have cable/internet/phone for two days.  This is the first time I've been able to get online since Saturday night.

Sorry to hear that. I can't imagine what your parents house looks like as it sounds like it is horrible just from reading about it. Hopefully everyone can start getting stuff back together soon.
