Jason and I will be moving in with my parents at the end of September and we're worried about moving Troy.
My parents have a dog and there were two cats previously in the house.
I have 2 questions:
1. Do any of you have experience moving a cat into a dog household? Any way to ease this transition for Troy?
2. Did you have any issues with your cat adjusting to old cat smells (near a litter box/food spot)?

Re: Ladies with cats...
I don't have any advice about bringing a cat into a household with a dog, nor into a house that used to have cats. My cats have never met a dog and our house is new (I have no idea if there were cats in the apartment we rented but if so there were no signs).
In terms of moving in general, it usually good to put them into one room initially to get used to the new space, then slowly let them explore. GL, my cats do not travel and move well. They were very pissy for a number of days.
We drugged Troy for the 3 hour drive to Jason's parents last summer and left him in the basement bathroom for the first day and a half, then locked him in the basement for the day. That transition seemed to go pretty excellent.
Trouble doing this in the new house is the basement is where my old cats always hung out and my parents both have all their hobby crap (read stained glass stuff and wood turning stuff) down there- so I'm just nervous he'll get into trouble down there.
