Waiting to hear about offer...what do you think?

So we put an offer in on a house yesterday. Background: It's been on the market for six months and the price has been reduced from 220K to 200K. Msot of the comps in the area sre in the 210-220 range but according to our agent, our house needs a little more TLC than the others. The previous owners were relocated (coincidentally with my company) and relocation has since paid them off so the house is now owned by a 3rd party company. Our offer was agressive in my opinion. We offered 190K plus 5K in closing costs but my boss counseled us to go with the low ball offer because our company does not like holding on to property. What do you think? Anyone had any experience with relocation companies?

Re: Waiting to hear about offer...what do you think?

  • We offered (and lost) on a house owned by a relo company...asking was $400K--we came in at $390K.  Unfortunately, there was a cash offer for $385K (we are FHA), and they took the cash.  Can't say I blame them.

Our REA definitely said that relo's don't like to hold onto the property...so I think you made a good offer.  GL and keep us updated!

  • Blah...just heard back from them. Their bottom line is 196K...so much for wisdom from the boss man. We don't love the house enough to pay 196 and not have ANY closing cost assistance so we're gonna have to walk. Crying

  • I would be sure to let them know that (that you'll have to walk).. they might go down if they think that they wouldn't sell the house otherwise. I guess it depends on how desperate they are.  Good luck!
