WWYD- re: drinking and baby making
Here's the situation. My weekend long family reunion is this coming weekend. I'll be around days 16-18 at the time. So too early to know if I'm pregnant, but after any conceiving would have occurred.
My family does a lot of drinking during the weekend. H and I were talking about sharing a variety pack of Mike's Hard.

Drink till it's pink! Isn't that what they say on the bump??
I agree to go ahead and have a good time. It will be too early to tell then you have nothing to worry about. I had no idea I was pregant so the night before my BFP the first time I ate tons of sushi and got blitzed...the next day we tailgated for a baseball game and I had maybe 3 beers. I felt terrible but the nurse said honestly I had no idea and since right after I got the BFP I didn't touch anything I was good.
I agree with cshissell if you are that paranoid get some dollar store tests and test each morning just to make sure.
Nah. I can always use taking care of K as my excuse. I've not drank or drank minimally in the past. Someone will probably make a comment, but it won't turn into a huge deal.

Ditto all of this. Drink til it's pink. Ha.
Disclaimer-- I don't have children, so I'm not an expert.
That said, I certainly understand the first tri is critically important and the tests on alcohol and fetal development aren't exactly clear as to an amount at a particular time, so the general idea is avoid all alcohol to be safe. Ok.
None the less, I think it can be taken to a level of creepy paranoia. If you're TTC, it's probably best to avoid excessive drinking. EXCESSIVE. I can not imagine that the amount of alcohol in 1, 2, or even 3 beer/wine/hard lemonades in either the TCC or EARLY, EARLY (possibly pre-implementation) stage will have negative effects on your child. I've seen zero medical (v. Bump paranoia) evidence linking issues with MINOR alcohol consumption at such an EARLY point. To be honest, if you m/c within the first month, it's virtually impossible to definitely know "why" (according to my attending physician).
Again, I'm not a doctor, but all I can say is many, many babies are born everyday in bella Napoli and the mothers drink (NOT to excess... we're talking wine with dinner) throughout their pregnancy.
